Original Red and Black Power Ranger talk about why they left the show

Saban all-but confirmed it was true in an interview, too. When asked about it, he sheepishly said something like, "these things happen in business". So we never got that X-Men Meets KISS.
One thing I like is the way is the way it simultaneously shows Saban to be the happiest merchant ever, it also argues against the stereotype of all jews being some scheming hivemind

I get that the show was making billions and paying the actors pennies for it, but I mean... The greedy jew literally proved that he could replace the cast with anybody and still make money up to a certain point, so how much were they really worth?

This was my favorite show as a kid, and I know it didn't bother me too much when half the cast fucked off. I didn't even notice at the time that they weren't even in the show for like 10 episodes before the characters actually left, replaced with stand ins and terrible voice overs.

I have a certain fondness for the show since I watched it as a kid but I admit, objectively it was bad. If Saban didn't run it into the ground it could have been much better, much more beloved, and actually made even more money. And part of that would have been having the actors stick around. Instead of the show succeeding for a time despite this. The original cast did a good job with what they were given. And they were treated worse than even many no name productions that don't make anything. It isn't necessarily about paying them star level money. Its about paying them enough to make a reasonable living without having to skrimp when the production is making a billion dollars.

Sadly for the actors, Power Rangers is a show that is based around switching the cast entirely every few years, so their bargaining power was extremely limited. The original cast was solid though, and helped a lot in helping the show gain momentum, though ironically Bulk and Skull outshone them.

I don't think it could have been more commercially successful, Power Rangers is mainly a children's show that most people outgrew of before it became bad. Later generations had more options in terms of anime and streaming.
