In defense of the actress, she had to learn sign language, how to sing, and how to play an instrument for the role. Not many young actresses can do one of those things, much less all three.

Probably just a stunt to give Smith some relevancy, he did win the night after his little slap and him crying during the commercials doesn't really prove anything. These fuckers are actors, Oscars have their politics and schemes and stuff like this isn't new, there's always that particular moment every year where something unusual or controversial gets the attention for a whole week then it gets forgotten. I have to say that Smith has proved himself a very emotionally unstable nigga before this slap so in the end who the fuck knows, I just thought Garfield deserved the award.

Here's the issue with that: The Oscars have dealt with years of the progressives whining that there isn't enough minority recognition in the show. This year clearly an effort to deal with that with Amy Schumer ect. So the person who proposed "Will Smith slapping Chris Rock" maybe wanted to sabotage that or was a total idiot who didn't think how that looks to the audience. Not impossible a senario but a PR nightmare that I can't really believe the Academy would go for.

I also don't think Will and Chris would of agreed to that sort of Kayfabe and Chris clearly wasn't expecting to be slapped. He actually acts shocked, natural response is to joke about it but also he's like... "It was a GI Joe joke man..." before realising maybe he should move the heck on and mumbles a bit before trying to figure out how to get it back on track.
