The Oscars will be here in February, which means films are starting their oscar campaigns about now. With that, which movies/actors do y'all think are gonna do well?

I think La La Land has a really good shot at Best Original Screenplay and Best Original Song, and probably best score, as well, since it's a musical.

I thought The Birth of a Nation was going to sweep the awards initially, but it ended up getting so-so reviews. I can see Arrival, La La Land, Hacksaw Ridge, and Silence (Martin Scorsese's new film) being big players this year as far as categories like Best Picture, Best Director, and acting awards, but other than that I'm not sure. I'll have to see how the rest of the year plays out.

I predict SJW salt over Birth Of A Nation not getting enough nominations or something.

Best Animated Film will probably go to Zootopia, since most other animated films this year were rehashes or boring.

Silence for Best Pic and/or Best Director. I don't think the Zionist overlords are ready to welcome Mel back to Hollywood completely just yet, so Hacksaw Ridge is probably out. Arrival is sci-fi and the 90-year-old voters of the Academy hate that shit, so forget it. Sully will get a nomination for BP and maybe Best Actor for Hanks, and I've heard good things about Manchester by the Sea, so if Silence somehow ends up bombing, that's a safe secondary bet.

I've heard that Hacksaw Ridge is making a big push for best picture and best director, but I don't think it's really got a shot against Scorsese's Silence

I'll have to agree with you on Zootopia winning as that always seems to be the case with Pixar movies even if Kubo could be a contender.

Deadpool for Best Comedy *rates self optimistic*

Pivoting to 2018 predictions, I think unless the Academy still hates Edgar Wright Baby Driver is at least worth an editing or sound mixing/soundtrack Oscar.

Dunkirk is probably the only "Summer Blockbuster" to amount to anything beyond effects nominations this year, to be honest. I know Logan is pushing it but that wasn't anything special by Academy standards, IMO.

I guarantee Get Out is going to get disproportionate coverage this season despite being a good concept and not much more.

I really want Andy Serkis to get recognized for once. But I think that's very wishful thinking.

Patty Jenkins will be awarded Best Director for Wonder Woman to further add to the narrative of "shattering the glass ceiling".
