Not too sure if this topic's been discussed before (or for that matter, is allowed), but what's your thoughts on the other message boards on the internet?

As for me personally, there's a few I go on and can read for long periods of time (like Project A.F.T.E.R.). But I feel that most are just feel like a hive of autism and sad (http://www.whygodwhy.org/ - This is WhyGodWhy, a site that, I think, can easily be compared to the forums on TVTropes. Read if you want to, just be forewarned that it's a mess).

Are there any out there that you read or are a member of? Any you like or hate?

I haven't ventured out much in recent years, but most forums I've come across through google search results are generally dead. Forums I used to go to are now dead. I think sites for people with ADD like Twitter and Tumblr and Facebook have pretty much eaten the Internet (yeah I know how stupid this sounds but I don't care -at least the surfaceweb) and it's like no one has even the patience for just regular old forums. That's just how it looks to me, and I didn't look really deep.

Also I'm a grouchy nostalgiafag, so there's that.

Well if it makes you feel any better, I don't have a Facebook account.

I'll infrequently show up on the chat they have on the SCP Foundation site. I don't go by Saney there though.

I've moderated a few forums here and there. Mostly smaller ones for creative projects. I've also been on a great deal of much, much larger forums (Average traffic being 300 or 1000 people).

Generally there is an appeal to smaller communities you cannot put into words.

I love that site. It's a great time killer. I don't participate, though, I just like reading about the SCP's.

The Cwcki Forums are the only board I'm active on.

True, unless you're part of one that's really notorious for its shit (i.e. TVTropes).

Just for some context, whygodwhy used to be GAFF (God Awful Fan Fiction). I've mentioned that site a couple of times here. I was briefly a member many years ago and back then it was kind of a crapshoot. Some people were funny snarkers who could point out why someone's writing was terrible and ways it could be improved. I actually learned quite a bit about good story telling at the time. Other members were basically big spergs who just went "GET OUTTA MY FANDOM! YOU'RE NOT BEING A SPERG THE RIGHT WAY  " By the looks of things, only the spergs are left on that site. I do know that some of the better members made their own little fanfiction snark corner somewhere on livejournal and are still active.

Would you believe they called PA a site more pretentious then they are?

I would heavily argue otherwise, if only for the sole fact that most of them have decent heads on their shoulders. Hell, I found out about WhyGodWhy from the PA forums.

There was an Atmosphere/Nightmare fan forum I found, but it was dead long before I found it.
I signed up anyway, but no point in posting to a forum nobody's on

I go on Facepunch a lot. I'm more of a lurker, although I do make some posts on occasion. I also lurk on the Running With Scissors forum (which by the way, has an even smaller community than us), though I do have an account there.
