BSD has three use cases. You either: want to run a server and take full advantage of ZFS, you're too hipster for Linux, or you're super autistic about init.

Besides, Randi "quit" FreeBSD in 2016, when it became clear that her contributions were either shitty document edits or actively causing conflict in within the core community.

Boy I remember being hyped about ReactOS the first time I heard about it. Sometime in 2005-ish, I think. I remember it was ugly and almost unusable apart from few select usecases when it worked for a bit, but still it was amazing that a windows clone was in the works. And now, about decade and half later they seem have made a significant progress, it looks like its slightly less ugly and about 2 more programs seem to be running in it.
