No. Otherkin love to claim it's the same thing, but it's not. I mean, think about it: it's possible for a male to be born in a female body and vice versa, but identifying as a different species, a religious figure, or something that doesn't even exist (a dragon, a fictional character, a fairy, etc) just doesn't happen. Most of these people are just special snowflakes. The others have underlying mental health issues.

Yeah, otherkin has nothing to do with being trans, but Tumblr's otherkin community has a huge overlap with Tumblr's transtrenders, to the point where "most of us are trans" is the most common excuse used by an otherkin when she's called out on likening the otherkin "experience" to the trans struggle. A lot of people claim they use it as a coping mechanism for their mental illness that they don't have, but I don't really see how your self-diagnosed anxiety has anything to do with thinking you're a Naruto character in a white girl's body.

Jenn is seriously one of my favorite crazy Tumblr people. Also, she ran her blog with someone named "Justice" (or something like that) who fell in love with her dresser or some other inanimate object and eventually gave it away because they were star-crossed lovers who could never be together or something and it was too painful.This one is a classic.

I remember there was a bit of a shitstorm on reddit when a deerkin (the same one who rooms with that Plutokin lady) freaked out because her son ate venison. Sorry the image quality is so crappy.
