Outraged Muslims to Rally Against Amazon Over Alleged Lack of Prayer Rooms - REEEEEEEEE! Autistic Screetching, Which Rivals OPL!

Outraged Muslims are reportedly planning a May 1 demonstration at the Amazon headquarters in Seattle, Washington.

The company is under fire after several Muslim security guards demanded time and space to pray five times a day, while on the job.

The guards contend in a lawsuit filed this week that the subcontractor who employs them does not appropriately accommodate their faith and retaliates against those who speak out.

Prayer rooms are an inherently bad idea when working in a commercial place of business because you know for a fact that these people consider their prayer spaces holy, which means, no cameras, no inspections, and no accusations under the watchful eye of Allah!

Having worked with many shiftless security guards I know for a fact this is them using religion as a bullshit excuse to slack off multiple times a day instead of being on post. No security company worth their salt would have hired a group of people who require five breaks a shift.

I don't know. It would cost Amazon nothing to let them use a conference room to pray a couple of times a day. But if they weren't happy with that then fuck 'em.

Except for one thing it would be giving far more breaks to a specific religion, i.e. A definite form of discrimination that could open them up to lawsuits from every other person who isn't a muslim.

And as a number of schools have found, if you allow muslims to use a room as a prayer room, it immediately becomes only their room. A couple of christian groups wound up having to raise money to get spaces off campus at colleges because the non-denominational prayer rooms were taken over by muslims who harrassed and threatened them for using the room.

A workplace isn't a college campus though. You're paying them to be there, not the other way around. If I did this and my employees started acting that way about it, they'd get fired for the specific causes of harassment and threats. As far as giving more breaks to a religion. Yeah maybe... but I seriously doubt anyone would sue over it. I remember when smokers got more breaks than non-smokers. Nobody as far as I know sued over that.

They might not sue, but you better believe it would cause a fuckton of bitterness and a hostile work environment as people realize that some people get more perks that others.

Edit: And generally people looked at smokers who took extra breaks as slackers too. At my work place you get two breaks at specific times, you take more than that and you're looking at a write up

I tend not to hire people who have those kinds of petty attitudes about shit. I doubt anyone that works for me would begrudge Muslims from praying a few times a day in the conference room.

Coincidentally, a hundred or more Afghan solders were killed yesterday while praying.
