OUTWARD - Official Trailer (New Open World RPG Game 2019)
Outward delivers an immersive RPG experience coupled with survival gameplay, offering a deeply-rewarding challenge for the most avid gamers. • Release Date: ...
So, Outward was released recently and it's a very...interesting sort of game. Looks like it's three generations old, has dreadful voice acting, is more obtuse than deep, and I've seen smoother combat in flash games, but I can't stop playing the fucking thing.
It is the only game that has pulled me away from The Division 2 for chrissake.
At its most charitable I'd say this was a fan's love letter to Morrowind - you're a pathetic stain to begin with (although if you know where to look you can break your power level in about six minutes), there are no directions to anywhere in your quest log so you need to write stuff down(!) or remember what NPCs tell you. Major events can occur in the world without your intervention (I lost my home town due to blowing off some growing signs of hostility...), the story does not specifically revolve around you as an individual, and yes, there are thirst and hunger meters.
It's ugly, sounds worse - although the music is fantastic in places - and yet the excitement of being able to afford a proper cooking pot and backpack before embarking on an adventure is incredibly endearing.
Anyone else been grabbed by this?
