They've also completely fucked over the balance for the weapons.

David Goldfarb in 2013 about adding microtransactions to Payday 2 said:
No. No. God, I hope not. Never. No.

Overkill has also completely murdered mod support by fucking up the LUA injector, destroying mods like hoxhud and goonmod, the latter of which is actually cutting its development because of this. Overkill is banning people from the Steam forums for expressing negativity about this and deleting Steam game reviews that frame Payday 2 negatively. They've gone into all-out damage control, and it's pretty sad.

Are you fucking surprised?

The game pushes out DLC constantly. They constantly add pointless shit to the game that makes it completely bloated instead of fixing things like how repetitive the missions are, how bullet spongey the game is and how unsatisfying the RPG elements are.

A friend of mine who preordered Payday 2 mentioned he loved the game at release but HATES it now because of how bloated it is. It's very clear like Killing Floor the dev made a great game by accident and chose to cash in as much as physically possible with it.

"Hey Overkill, your weapon balancing is shit. The only viable weapons in the game are really available only in DLC packs, please rebalance what you put in the game before adding anything else."
"WHAT'S THAT? DID YOU SAY BUFF EVERYTHING AND NERF SHOTGUNS? YOU GOT IT! WANT SOME WEAPON SKINS LOCKED BEHIND SAFES THAT REQUIRE REAL MONEY TO OPEN? HAHA FREE DLC! WE LOVE OUR FANS!"
Based Overkill truly knows how to please everyone. What did players truly want? It wasn't less useless weapon packs and tighter balancing of weapons. Nope, players wanted the Bronco revolver to kill a bulldozer in 4 shots to the head and shotgun builds to become non-viable.

Remember to buy a StarVR headset and empty your Steam wallet for all that beautiful DLC :))))

Been playing post Day 1 content; plays exactly the same. Yeah the shotguns thing is fucked but that'll get fixed. If you don't want skins then don't buy them. Use all the same assault rifles as I did pre-update and they kill things just fine.

The insanely high buffs for weapons like akimbo pistols, assault rifles, and pistols means that enemy balance is almost completely fucked. As I mentioned earlier, I can take down a Bulldozer on Overkill with 4 Bronco shots to the face. I just played some Death Wish and crit akimbo deagles made Skulldozers/Black Dozers completely laughable because I can get up to 200 damage on dual deagles. Even if I didn't have akimbo weapons, it's now possible to get up to 100 damage on select assault rifles and even SMGs. Shotgun builds are completely shit now due to the insane nerf on that weapon class. The removal of the speed debuff on LMGs was completely unnecessary and Overkill further murdered the accuracy on LMGs making them infinitely inferior to ARs. Also due to some attachments on the Minigun which were supposed to negate the speed debuff, you can actually go up to around 15-20% faster with your minigun equipped effectively making anyone holding that piece of shit Sanic.
Also I didn't know about this until very recently, but they changed around Perk Decks. Muscle now offers an insane 4% health regen every 5 seconds, Gambler boosts team health/ammo even faster, and I keep hearing about how Grinder is the new God-tier deck.
Weapon balance was already garbage before because Overkill continued to release garbage DLC with weapons that gave insane advantages to buyers. This attempt at a rebalance just proves that Overkill has no idea what the hell they're doing with their game at all. There's no thought process behind any of the buffs/nerfs and their plan to make more weapons viable only made more weapons OP.

It makes me a little angry. Actually, very angry. Before the game even launched it was stated that the game workswouldn't have microtransactions. This feels like a massive "fuck you".
On top of that, this was introduced during Crimefest, an event that would give us all free content to access. Instead, it was just another cash grab.
And even worse, this is killing the mod community. People were already modifying weapon textures before this.
I'm still a huge fan of the game, it's great. But if this is the business practice continues, I'm honestly not sure if Payday will have the community it had for the past couple of years

I'm only really bothered by the rebalance - when it comes to a game that has no real competitive part, and is entirely co-op, I don't give a square fuck if microtransactions can make you better in game. Not having them doesn't make the game any worse, it just means maybe you shoot people one less time on occasion.

Actually, they never specifically said that they would only release free content on their Road to Crimefest page.
"Completed challenges are exchanged for free content and new features being added to PAYDAY 2 during Crimefest."
"Every feature that is unlocked during Crimefest is released for free for the entire community of PAYDAY 2."
So yeah the feature to pay for keys and crates is free.

it gives you Health regen for every enemy you kill/hit, so if you mix that with things like the molotov or in the old days the shotguns (using Flammable rounds was incredibly funny) you were god in earth, i stopped playing when the chivalry pack was announced need to enter again to see how bad it is

"Damaging an enemy heals 4 life points every 0.5 seconds for 6 seconds."
Holy shit, that's absolutely insane. It stacks too, it god damn stacks.
Also, apparently the Chivalry pack adds a crossbow and a longbow that have retrievable ammo and do well over >500 damage. I'm pretty sure it's the worst DLC in terms of balancing, but I could be wrong on that as I haven't spent a dime on any recent DLC aside from the BBQ pack (couldn't resist the AA12 and flame weapons).

I only got the Chivalry pack for the helmets, honestly. As one could imagine, I'm a total sucker for medieval helmets.

I just always use whatever gun feels the most fun and humorous to use.

So they've introduced a lot of new features with their weapon rebalancing.

There's no longer any movement penalties for heavy weapons like LMGs. This includes the comically oversized man-portable minigun.

Back when carrying the minigun did impact your speed, you could modify it with half the ammo capacity and a shorter barrel to move faster while carrying it.

The speed bonuses from these modifications still apply. So with a cut-down minigun, you now move at Doomguy levels of speed.

This is a pretty interesting feature.

Hmmmmmkay.

Well, to paraphrase the wise, almost sage-like Chains from PayDay2.

"You broke dick piece of shit!"

Seriously, when I find out that my 360 version of the game is now more balanced than my PC version (I like the game, what can I say), that's just kinda sad.

They actually did a good job rebalancing weapons that were otherwise too useful, though of course there's a few things that feel wonky. Like pistols having ridiculous damage. But stuff like the Loco and the Car-4 got much needed nerfs.

And the skins seem to be like, +4 stability. I notice stability very little in general.

They deactivated LUA injections for the duration of Crimefest. The daily updates would break every mod every day, leading to people spamming the forums - a lesson they learned a year ago.

oh okay, I was told it was a change in the game itself, but I guess you can't believe everything you hear, haha.
