J-RPG is annoying.

If only because I always thought of all RPGs as mostly the same because it's the same genre. I can't even think of any RPGs that aren't "J" by the definition too. What are some non-J's then, if they exist?

Redundant.

They aren’t. It’s kinda like the difference between a FPS and TPS, yeah? Games play a little different.

I see now, I should've been more specific in saying I meant turn based RPGs. I don't view anything with stats as really an RPG, even if they technically are.

Turn based should be the name, not J.

...literally any RPG not made in Japan.

There's pretty big differences between the ways that the west and the Japanese treat RPGs. One of the biggest differences I've always noticed is that JRPGs basically always give you a character you have to play as, whereas in most WRPGs you begin by creating your character. There are obvious exceptions to this. For example everything in the "souls" series pretty much falls under WRPG.

There's a whole lot more other shit but it doesn't really matter.

I'd like examples, if you got any.

Final Fantasy VII is you and your hard-hittin’ niggas advancing the plot in certain areas until some bitch ass invisible sack of crap ambushes you and makes the game load. Then you take turns hitting each other.

Might and Magic VII is you and your hard hittin’ niggas roaming around advancing the plot in a more open environment until some bitch ass sack of crap shows up and you blow them away like the bitch ass sack of crap they is. You can either click like mad and totally show off your skills that pay the bills or you can be a scrub nigga and take turns.

I mean if you think Dragon Quest plays like Baldur’s Gate, then ok. I mean I think all fighting games are just memorizing button inputs and following a pattern, so that’s fine. I think if you did another Tekken 3 and had a beat em up game that had special moves like Fatal Fury or something that would be awesome.

Edit: bro, Dungeons and Dragons has stats.
