Unless that was intentional to keep pushing the Gency agenda, who knows.
I feel like if any agenda was getting pushed by OW, it would have been the lesbian relationship. I mean they've turned more characters gay post release than JK Rowling has at this point and the entire modus oprendai of the game became pandering to the Lettuce Gay Bacon and Tomato faggots on twitter.

Gency was absolutely getting pushed when Michael Chu was still around, now, not so much. I think Jeff was a Pharmercy fan but even then they didn’t get nearly as much teasing in comparison. I suppose you can give Gency a few points for being one of the few non-gay pairings but I wouldn’t say either of these is a winner. If they’re going to pair anyone up, I personally think Reinhardt and Ana would be the best choice, but that’s my two cents without getting into full-blown sperging territory about shipping. This is why it was a dumb idea to begin with.

Aside from Reinhardt/Ana, there’s Lucio/D.Va, but the majority of it was in the base game. It’s obvious where the bias stands these days.
I'm not sure about Reinhardt and Ana, but there's literally no evidence at all anywhere that states Lucio and D.Va are a thing.

They were teased, not canon. No pairing is yet. Reinhardt has flirted with Ana a few times and it's at least implied that he is attracted to her. As for Lucio and D.Va, there was an interaction between them in the original OW where he playfully calls her his "favorite song."

What sucks is in the first place there was an attempt to have organic relationships - the photos of old parties, Mercy and Genji, and so on - but after that it was pandering. Tracer gay and likes redheads, wowzers! Wasn't developed at all. Not a real relationship, just another youthful fling, which I'm really tired of seeing presented as something good. It isn't. A lot of it is a thirst trap for male players. It was really only just eyecandy, mostly for men and men in dresses, and ticking a box.

Remember when there was bad press (I think THE bad press that started the end of it all) so they released SOLDIERGAY? And yet, again, it was not developed at all. Then again who wants to explore a gruff old soldier trying to process emotions and have a relationship at all, never mind with another man? The point is to just pander and say "gay exists here" and then quickly jump cut to something else. People want to see the box ticked but nobody wants to see an actual relationship, and I think even less so than two women.

Now with OW2 Weaver is a gigantic faggot (who hilariously didn't make a move on the most Exceptional woman ever, Symmetra, despite sharing a room with her in school) but he looks the player up and down. Male gaze from a male gay in a video game, a fujo's wet fucking dream. Didn't someone propose a poison passive for weaver so he literally gives you a fucking STD with this needles? lol

The only agenda for OW is pandering and spooning out leftover assets Jeff Kaplan would feel bad about releasing, and selling skins, to make as much money as they can. So much potential wasted.

At least Lucio is a fucking black manlet brazilian who likes to play hockey, loll.

That killed me because Solider 76 was one of the best tools in the chest for dealing with shit. You might not be able to easily execute all the gimmicks other characters have, but if you were good at shooting you could do good things with Soldier. Then they made him a fag. For no reason. No build up. No story. They just threw that in to score good boy points on twitter and poisoned the entire character to me. I'd rather have an organically gay character who's written well than a random character made gay to appeal to fags on twitter. Astarion is clearly supposed to be gay in BG3, I know for mechanics sake he's bi, but that dude's gay as hell. He's incidentally, also one of my favorite companions in that game because his sharp whit and generally shitty attitude is always funny.

I can never tell if I like or hate Lucio. On one hand he's a nigger who listens to loud music, thinks bass is the best thing in the world, and shoots people at random and Blizzard thought that was an acceptable stereotype.

On the other hand, Blizzard really likes Lucio and wants me to think I should like him too even though he's a nigger who listens to loud music, thinks bass is the best thing in the world, shoots people and random and apparently people want him to black D.VA.

Also poor DV.A if people aren't trying to black her, they're trying to make her into a lesbian constantly. She's a Starcraft 3 player, She knows the best things in life are to rush your enemies, to fast expand to the gold bases, and to impress their women with your high APM.

It's also writing.

You learn more about Astarion in BG3 inside of 4 minutes than anyone knows about S76 across a full decade of two Overwatch games.

The faggot of the roster is lifewaver lol. Fuck sake.

It's not even hard to make a gay man who isn't a faggot and has to process being a military (special forces?) veteran. There are plenty of them to crib off of! Since soldier wasn't characterized yet it could have easily been done, and done well, but it wasn't, it was just a shitty comic where he's with another guy and they're showing typical veteran emotional stunting.

As you say, it's for twitterfaggots (the wannabe lifeweavers) and fujos, but does nothing for the people actually like that.

It's a fucking cavalcade of laziness and pandering.

Alright, fuck it, let's pozload my negholep.

Has there actually been a good gay or lesbian romance in popular culture yet? Not "tee hee validity!" or REPRESENTATION!!!one, not some unhealthy shit wrongly seen as healthy, actual love? Ever?

Fucking shit already.

Mercy's a funny, interesting character even with what little characterization she has who can play off of anyone, but Pharah's this paper thin mix of Egyptian and native American (lol) who's got a little bit of pilot cockiness but is otherwise not even a good dyke.
Even Moira/Mercy pairing would've had been a more interesting choice given their backstories, but no we gotta pander to those tumblr pooners and yurifags from 2016!

To play the devil's advocate, the interactions between Mercy and Genji weren't so on the nose as far as I remember, they were generally simplewith the only explicit ones (which was for Valentine's Day and White Day) being there for 1 day exclusively and then never being repeated ever again until the next year. The only interaction outside the game they got was in that 2016 Christmas comic, where it was shown them receiving letters from one another. And there were constant lore breaks where even fans wondered if they just given up all together on it (if only they know how bad things would get.)

You could say Chu wanted to base their relationship after him and his wife, but I'd take that over Steve Danuser clearly making that one WoW character be a Mary-Sue who is also the champion and husbando of his undead waifu or Director of Halo 4 literally saying "My mom had dementia and died later so I have to use Master Chief and Cortana as dolls for emotional therapy and ruin consistent lore so I can feel better", because unlike those two examples OW back then was fresh at the time and it isn't unusual for creators to base characters, whether its their design or relationship with other characters after the things they find appealing or parts of themselves, but maybe in hindsight he shouldn't had shown clear bias on his Twitter for what he wanted to make.

Nah man, the Gency pandering was particularly obvious, with the Valentine's Day lines making it blatant. Even if I were to give them the benefit of the doubt and say you could interpret all those moments as Genji and Mercy simply being close friends, they still knew what they were doing. It's one of the most popular Overwatch ships for a reason. Chu basically making them the self-inserts for him and his blonde white wife was just cringe.

The ship teasing (along with the sexuality confirmations) in general was a stupid idea to bait people, and the staff only fueled - or rather, continue to fuel it - with their bias.

To take a split-second break from the back and forth above me that I'm not allowed to quote en-mass (for the better in this case), please remember that Mercy's initial relationship had its basis in interaction and story and was removed so the butch diverse woman could be with the feminine care-taker woman. The only lesbian relationship in fiction.

Let's not act like both of them weren't forced, gay or not. I never had a horse in the great Gency vs. Pharmercy race and frankly never gave a shit about either of them, but the only reason Gency had any kind of basis in the story was because some of the staff (read: Chu) shipped it, same reason why Mercy and Pharah are friends. The whole thing was a mistake.

I feel like there is someway they could make bastion lore not make sense

That and, as I've addressed before, Chu was being a self-idulgent weirdo by projecting himself and his blonde white wife onto them.
Oh God, you just unlocked some repressed memories of seeing shipping war slapfights. I am starting to remember Chu
had this really retarded habit of feeding retarded Pharmercy and anti-Gency people attention instead of just ignoring them, when they would start shit with him on Twitter, apparently it got so bad because some Pharmercy and other anti-Gency spergs tried to harass him off Twitter or get him fired and that kind of caused him to go radio silent before he announced him leaving Blizzard. (My memory is hazy about this, I might just be misremembering things).

Even as someone that likes the Genji/Mercy pairing, I can see your point of shipping starting
out as something completely "oh this just for fun" but then evolving into something serious
and autistic, fueled by spergy fans and staff that enables/interacts with them instead just
shrugging off autist that are way too invested into this and giving them most ambiguous answers.

Autism..Autism never changes

Although, Gency never did strike as a popular pairing compared to Pharmercy, Widowtracer,
McHanzo and ZaryaMei.
I used to be a Lucio main.
They changed his opening line from "Look at this team! We're gonna do great!" to "We're here to be heard."
I am now currently a Moira main.
I used to play Mercy, but then they sodomized her completely with that second rework,
I tried switching to Ana, but sadly she's one of those characters where even if you're
god-like playing her, it doesn't matter if you have 5 headless chickens on your team.

I eventually switched to Orisa before I dipped out of OW completely.
Now I'm just here to watch how Blizzard will keep shooting themselves in the foot.

Remember back when Orisa was released there was porn of her before the game updated with her in it? Good times. The new characters don't even get in the porn much. Blizzard has even pissed off the pervs. How low can you get.

I noticed that on youtube there aren't anywhere close to as many Overwatch videos being made. Back in the day if a new hero or map came out there were about a million or so strategy guides, reviews, etc. Now there might be a few, and they're low energy and sad.

Found a video from 3 weeks ago that summed up a lot of the problems.
Silva Mlon
The FALL of Overwatch 2
Listened to it while cooking, the ending was really gay. The idea it's solely the result of the higher ups is ridiculous, if anything most of the problems in gaming are because the majority of the company staff forces the management to focus on retarded shit while barely putting any work. Blaming upper management is just a weak cope.

I never participated in the Gency vs Pharmercy thing, but it seemed like the game was content with teasing ships here and there, casually throwing fuel at shippers for fun like many other media with an ensemble cast. I quietly shipped Widowtracer on the sidelines, then Blizzard roundhouse kicked and buried the ship six feet under for no reason.
