Owen Benjamin - The comedian who cried nigger

Owen Benjamin is a 37 year old comedian who prides himself on getting rejected from gigs for failing to exercise the modicum of self censorship required to function in society. He was engaged to Christina Ricci briefly and was in a handful of movies about a decade ago. (imdb)

Owen used to do inoffensive, non political comedy. Owen was asked about medical transition of children and said he was against it, his next paid gig at a college found out and cancelled, losing Owen several thousand dollars. A lot of people felt for Owen and gave him some money, started following him on twitter and YouTube.

Owen seems to have mistaken those lucky events with an unlimited formula for making money. He moved from LA to a small town in new York State ( Saranac Lake) and knocked up his wife again, banking on his internet success to support all of them. He started the hash tag #unBEARables on twitter and encouraged fans to use the bear emoji in their twitter accounts to identify each other.


His next stand was against anyone who might censor the word "nigger". Few people found this as noble, and he was shadowbanned from twitter after losing comedy gigs, limiting his reach considerably for someone with more than 100k followers.

Here is a pretty painful smack down from successful comic Anthony Jeselnik, Owen was complaining about being blocked before interaction.

Owen alternates between chimping out about being misunderstood and insisting that he is having a great time and doesn't mind the scrutiny at all.

Residents of his town are fed up with him and want him to leave, it is safe to assume he is just as much of a jackass IRL.

The final blow was dealt to his twitter when he began to repeatedly heckle teenage activist David Hogg about his pubes.

Twitter pulled the plug, Owen made a second account immediately, which was also suspended. the only remaining account is here. his livestream ability was revoked on YouTube, and Owen is now crying for pitybux on facebook, after bragging that he doesn't have sponsors and doesn't need them. If only someone could have predicted this???

I have a vague recollection of seeing this guy perform way back when Comedy Central actually showed stand up comedy. He should have stuck to the bland, inoffensive material. He could've gotten a piece of Jim Gaffigan's fan base.

Is anyone else immensely creeped out by his obsession with David Hogg's pubic hair? It seems less like a joke when you keep mentioning it over and over.

By the way, his Wikipedia page lists Vince Vaughn and Adam Sandler as his comedic influences. That pretty much sums it all up, doesn't it?

I mean, all in all he's dumb enough and has the e-begging going on for lolcow standards, but I was expecting something more.. crazy, or at least a dark past to look back and be like "holy shit". I'm not saying this cow is out of milk, but I was expecting a bit more. Time will tell.

I cannot over state the number of tweets he said "nigger" in unnecessarily to prove a point over the course of a...month? If he posted on KF people would be like "okay okay, enough with the nigger jokes", a comedian should know better.

Anyway I think this is going to be the start of a serious downward spiral. He is going to be on some shitty podcast later today talking about being banned.
