Having the game turn into a battle of spamming consumable healing would probably be pretty tedious, too, so I'm glad they avoided that. I don't need any more 99 lifegem games. Though, speaking of Souls, I'm a little surprised they didn't crib the estus system. Seems like more and more games are doing that in order to provide healing, but keep it from being something you can do endlessly. Not that I'm really complaining. Ending a boss battle I was underleveled for with just 100hp left felt pretty satisfying.
