Palworld - Everything you have ever wanted from a Pokemon game

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I thought I was being smart by using my remaining Palbox as a portable teleporter so I decided to plant it right next to some sulfur with no defenses.

A raid happens, 8 thugs wearing hoodies and 2 furries came out of the darkness and knock me down.
Buddy comes to pick me up, they knock him down. We both proceed to get tossed around like yesterday's dinner.
I get knocked down one final time, the thugs leave and a message appears: "All enemies defeated"
Am I the bad guy?

I don't really care much for whatever drama this game is stirring up or what moral standings people have over using these animals to run my sweatshops, but I'm absolutely having a blast.

I haven't played scat and vomit or Arceus so I wouldn't be able to say for sure, but does anything in there actually have animations with as much character as Cawgnito? Seriously, every time i encounter those guys I completely forget most of this game is stolen models. The animations on those guys are just so good.

I also really like them lorewise. Literally a fedora wearing bird whose background is "while you were busy flying, I was busy studying the blade" *teleports behind u*
Animations? In Pokemon games?
lol, lmao
Last 3D Pokemon RPG that had proper battle animations was Gale of Darkness in 2005, and last Battle Simulator was Battle Revolution in 2007. Every other game, be it pixel or 3D, had absolutely no animations aside from miniscule bouncing up or down like a child playing with an action figure.
There are too many examples, just go on youtube and type in "Pokemon Colosseum vs Sword Shield"
Fuck the people complaining about Dexit. Snap had a limited roster and was stupidly characterful in animation and made by a third party and people loved that
My dude, what the fuck are you talking about? Snap was an on-rails shooter, of course it will have more attention to details when it comes to models and animations, because it is lacking in gameplay mechanics compared to the RPG mainline games. We've had this arguments for literal years, there is nothing stopping Gamefreak from having thousands of Pokemon, the memory allows it. The only reason they're cutting corners is because they're hacks, they could copy + paste Pokemon that they have no plan updating and that would be fine too, but they aren't to artificially force people to buy DLCs to get their favorites

I mean yes, they are in Arceus. It’s kind of a big point because of how the game is thry had to make animation that showed the Pokemon being naturally in the wild and one of the big isdues with SV glitching and popping in and out so much, in that, you miss all the characterisation the mons have in the eild because they are either popping in and out of reality or you are moving so fast to never see them.

I thought it was rather obvious. People don’t give an f about how many mons they actually are if the game is actually good. And third party devs can make good Pokemon games but cutting down on the number of mons. As proven by the majority of times other people have made something with the IP and as clearly seen in Pal World. Less mons allows you to do things that people actually like - like making the world and mons feel unique and alive via unique animations.

GF should just cut back on a lot of the bs fans keep saying they want but don’t actually give two fucks about and focus on the core of their games. It would probably reduce crunch and give them a chance to actually rest. But they won’t do the smart and obvious thing and make a game they obviously care about because, as you rightfully point out, they are stupid.

Arceus is probably the Pokemon game with the most character because you are field researching and catching Pokemon for that so they actually have to make mons do things that they would do normally.

SV has that to a lesser degree and it’s difficult to spot due to how fast you go over the map and just the games popping in and out so frequently.

If anything Pal World is probably better because working with way less and they kind of have to sell them all as different.

Which honestly should be a message to GF to cut back on the amount and focus more on style. Fuck the people complaining about Dexit. Snap had a limited roster and was stupidly characterful in animation and made by a third party and people loved that
I've noticed that Pals do have personality and AI tied to them.

Wolf Pals (and vulture Pals) will go to nearby corpses and eat them.
Llama Pals will orbit their king.
Bee Pals march in formation.
Water Pals prefer to Swim.
Some Pals hang around with their lower level mate.
Even grunts hang around their camps and toss out their Pokemon when approached.

It's almost like people want to have fun/shitpost with their friends without obnoxious microtransactions and gay shit like hate speech codes.

And if you build such a thing people will give you money.

People still talk about Dexit, so that's wrong. Also, there hasn't been a "good" Pokemon game since Dexit. Arceus is a spinoff due to how the gameplay mechanics changed, and at least that game added some unique forms of Pokemon(at the time) to pad out the numbers and make the game feel more unique, which is great. This doesn't excuse dexit there but at least they're trying to fill the void, Sword/Shield and Scarlet/Violet aren't unless you count DLC that costs just as much as a second copy of the game total.
There are no upsides or excuses for Dexit, so we can stop this discussion now. I've seen better arguments for trooning out kids than I've seen copes from Pokemon fans about how small indie studio Gamefreak cannot port over a few more Pokemon with no added changes, like they have for decades until they got extremely lazy. Sun/Moon exists and there are plenty of Pokemon brought over from X/Y and ORAS with absolutely zero changes that are not available in normal gameplay, but they did it anyways because it takes no extra effort on their part. They even brought over Mega Evolutions so what's the excuse here now that they even removed those?
There are entire hours long videos on this topic and why there are no excuses for this kind of behavior, but I won't bring them into this thread to not derail it. It should be a no brainer to anyone who played one of these games before to completion at least once, but then again most people who still try to argue for Dexit haven't

Of course they do and it’s pretty great. The benefit of not working with 1000s of them you can personalise your limited roster from the start and then just keep that going foward.

By the time GF got to being able to do those kinds of things the roster was already way to big to go through each one.

There’s probably also a bit of ‘everyone just turns the animations off so why bother with unique ones’ going on as well

Palworld just became the second most all time played game on steam, surpassing counterstrike.

The creator while bare bones is hilarious. I think I spent 5 minutes laughing at a feminine face stapled onto the male type body with the chest slider maxes, then another 5 minutes putting a masculine face on the female body.
The dev's Twitter response to the body type 1/2 thing on Twitter was pretty based.

"We did it because Americans love creating ugly characters."

People still talk about Dexit, so that's wrong.
Are you missing the part where i am saying people only care about Dexit if the games are bad? Make a good game, players don’t care.
This doesn't excuse dexit there but at least they're trying to fill the void,
Kind of does. It proves that cutting back on the mons and giving players a game the devs wanted to make but the players did not is an overall benefit to the game and people then don’t actually mind all the lost mons
There are no upsides or excuses for Dexit, so we can stop this discussion now.
Sure there are. You can spend more time on each individual mon and make the world feel more lived in and real. Which all other games like Pokemon, including Pal World, try to do and are better off for it. It’s something GF has only just started doing but there’s over 1000 mons it will probably take a while.

I’d make the excuse that they want to try wnd make each region feel distinct and it’s own and therefore certain Pokemon just wouldn’t show up if I was making the game. But then I wouldn’t make a DLC that is just man made enviroments where any and all Pokemon could be found.

Feels like they intended to do something with SWSH and SV and then gave the fuck up.

Think they may have realised no one gave a fuck and just wanted the mons. So i almost totally expect a game that just puts them all in at some point via Tereium esc enviroment and does not give a f about region or plot

Impressive. Very nice. Hell, hope they somehow reach #1, poopgeeniggers could use to sweat a little too.
It’s just beyond funny as if they think Nintendo will care that much in the long run.

Think the absolute kicker is Coloseum did the edgy Pokemon thing way earlier and no one bought it.

Which is probably why we never get a remake.

Abd then Arceus did the violent Pokemon attacking Trainer thing and made you lose resources as a result

I wonder why they went so out of their way to make ice organs such a pain to get. It's like your choice are either
>Starting area penguins (not guaranteed, kinda low rate since they share all their areas with foxparks)
>conservatory kingpens (not guaranteed AND its 2 minutes just to swim there and back)

So pretty much you don't get a reliable option till level 30 when you can fuck up the snow mountain.

My friend and I dropped a pal box to use as a freebie teleporter there and back on the one coast. We haven’t made a second base yet and just use it as a deployable fast travel.

Kinda hope they do the Diablo thing with teleport scrolls that leave a persistent portal to go back.

>pokefags are now officially so delusional that the Mary fucking Sue has the high ground in an argument

Also, I don't want to be autistic (lol), but I'm pretty sure Nintendo was a household name way before Pokemon came around.

For the record, Pokemon Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum have around 7m lifetime sales (though the "director's cut" versions never sold well). Never thought this would end up outselling actual Pokemon games.
