Palworld - Everything you have ever wanted from a Pokemon game

That said, I turned down my setting a tad for better temps, and it did little. I'm wondering if it's an Unreal thing where it just uses all the headroom available regardless of settings, or maybe the graphics settings are just broken?
unreal has that crappy system where graphical features change under the hood according to "high/low", like antialiasing. unless you can edit the ini, you're SOL which is even worse than "AA ON/OFF".

The pals have some random traits, some of which are really neat (ie. +20% DMG) and you can also upgrade them with both new attacks by feeding them ability fruits and by using the statue thingy (giving them another few % of extra stats). So i think thats already kinda there.
For example, i got the Electro-Horse with the 20% DMG trait and added another 20% worth of upgrades and a decent attack and now have a rideable electric chair called Zappo.

There has to be a pun here you're failing to make.

I had no idea there was a justice system in this. Started smacking a "skilled survivor" with a bat and when he had a sliver of hp, I noticed a YOU'VE BEEN SPOTTED notification, so I hastily captured the guy and legged it towards the base, because the game spawned 4 level 24 gun-toting cops that started chasing my ass as a big WANTED: ASSAULT appeared on my HUD. I don't know whether they're on a timer and fuck off on their own after a while or did I simply manage to reach my base without making contact or taking damage from them.

Now I have a human in my Palbox who I don't know what to do with. Also there used to be this level 3 dude sitting by a campfire near the starting location, but he disappeared after a raid of "man-eating Pals", so I can only assume he got ate.
Find a black market dealer and sell his ass into slavery.

I finally got to try the flying and while it needs work i truly enjoyed watching the sun set over the far off water by the weird tree. Building a base near the Bushi boss in a field of lavender because if we're going to go full fucking autistic you might as well have the aesthetic.
my favorite technique of shooting or spearing the pals till I can donk them in the head with a sphere never stops eliciting a laugh from me as it ricochets off the pals face.
You don't understand, Palworld shows the west has won.

The simplified element list works so much better TBH:

Dark inherits all ghost type moves/pokemon
Neutral/Normal inherits all flying type moves/pokemon
Bug and Poison was merged with Dark too.
Psychic was merged into dark.
Rock and steel into ground.
Etc.

It's actually more simple than Pokemon's chaotic element system. It adds a lot to the game.

Somebody posted a few pages back about the world seeming very "soulless" and not having the joy of exploration for the sake of it, but I really have to disagree. I keep stumbling upon land formations and little groves and alcoves that make me want to explore even more. There's a boss arena located at the center of a crater, with a spiral path going down along the sides, and a lake in the middle of it that was a joy to find. Every waterfall tends to have a little secret reservoir at the top of it that's absolutely lovely. I've had a ton of fun exploring in this, and I think the map in general tends to have more variety than Breath of the Wild does in terms of terrain and landmarks. I've not played Genshin for more than a few hours so I wouldn't know about that.

One thing I did agree with in that post though, is that Pal and world integration is not great. A lot of those secret groves should have little families living in them for you to exterminate make friends with, I've traveled across clifftops and plateaus without running into a Pal for several minutes. An effort could certainly be made to make them feel even more like they fit in the world (something that this game absolutely destroys Pokemon on already). We'll see how the game progresses, but it's clear to tell that there is, outside of landmarks, generally less care put into the more distant parts of the map as far as details go. Grass and collectibles will be floating, that sort of thing. Hopefully that gets ironed out.

I'm still kind of stunned how overall positive my experience with this game has been. Aside from the AI and a few animations breaking here and there, I've not really experienced many bugs at all (in singleplayer). I was expecting this game to come out like a wet fart, be carried entirely by its premise for a week or so, then entirely disappear, but it's actually good. Really good. That said, I absolutely understand people getting bored with it or not being able to handle the base building and crafting shit. It really isn't for everyone.
One of the Palkemon is a thiccc tall lady...

They knew what they were doing...
She's normally shorter than the player character, I had no idea the boss version was so fuckhuge.

More areas like the Gobfin village where you have distinct biomes filled with a certain type of Pal would probably help. I know there's a couple places like that, and you wouldn't want it to just be one pal, but it would make the world feel a bit more varied in how the Pals arrange themselves, past the random assortments you see wandering in the starting islands. If they can keep the performance under control, having the Pals spawn at a greater distance away (rather than just popping up) would also help, alongside giving them a bunch of idle animations of interacting with the world: grazing, starting little fires, splashing around water, whatever.

Just wanted to add to this one point real quick. A lot of areas are reserved for Pals that don't exist yet. This is especially true for floating pals, since so many of those huge empty areas are just way too slanted for a normal pal to hang around, meanwhile fliers are purposefully meant to be sparse so they cant be put there either.

Been playing it a bit more and I honestly didn't think I would enjoy the game this much. I never cared about pokemon, kind of hate survival games where stuff you own degrades and above all it's early access. Here we are though, all of this stuff put together just kind of works.

If course I placed my base somewhere I hate, but I do that in every game where I can build a base. What's nice is the game just lets you make another one so I think that's my goal. So now I'm flying around while looking at real estate to where I want to make a stone building.

Excited to see what the finished product will look like. I really hope they make multiplayer run smoothly soon, hopping on with friends in this sounds incredibly fun.

Seethe Nintendo fags.

Got it gifted, so I finally get to play it. I can definitely see why people are having fun with this and I genuinely think Legends Arceus would of become something more like this if it was given more time to actually cook instead of being stuck to GF's stupid fucking production schedules.

I get why the retard section of the Pokefags are seething so fucking hard now. This early access game outta nowhere make THE "creature capturing video game" company of the world look like fucking amateur dumbasses with more money than sense. I genuinely can't wait to see how much better this game gets over time, its almost every God damn thing I want and expect a Pokémon game to be these days. Stop being a bunch of stupid niggers, Gamefreak, because you have actual potential competition now.
I normally hate the phrase “toxic positivity”, but that's the phrase I'd use to describe the Pokemon fandom since Gen 7 at the very least. Anytime a new game has been released since Sun and Moon, any discussion regarding the quality of the games going downhill is always met with “think of the poor Gamefreak employees”/”be grateful for the game existing” or being met with several excuses being made for the Pokemon franchise stagnating as a whole. Or, they'll excuse it by saying Gen 1-4 were always as super flawed as modern games.

For the last few months I've been noticing a lot of them trying to argue that Scarlet and Violet were the best games in the franchise, a proclamation which makes me wonder if they actually played that glitch filled mess.

And it's those same fans that are malding the hardest over Palworld, because Palworld not only has better presentation on a smaller budget but has far more engaging gameplay mechanics as well.

They are being proven wrong by this game’s very existence.

My bases are starting to get raided by the Brothers of the Eternal Pyre (in addition to the usual Free Pall Alliance, Rayne Syndicate, and Wild Pal ones). The Syndicate raids are also getting higher in level now and I even noticed that one of those retards was packing a fucking flamethrower. I just got the stone defense walls and can't wait until I get stone gates.

I also noticed that the Free Pal Alliance can also form camps like the Rayne Syndicate does with their strongholds, I raided one (with the wild Pal population killing most of the hippies) and I ended up getting a Mossanda Lux out of it.

Tocotoco continues to be a nightmare to anything that breathes but I'm also considering taking in a second one since Eggbomb Launcher is that good.

And no, it’s not because I encountered one in a Rayne Syndicate camp and I personally felt offended by that. The bodies you see there were from natural and the hands of wild Pals, not my insaitable bloodlust and desire to see justice served. And yes, I know my armor is damaged here. It’s actually from that somewhat-useless accessory that helps with blows to the head.

Best place to farm ore and coal right here.

View attachment 5666636

Has multiple ore and coal deposits that regenerate. Grab a Digtoise and either craft a collar or put him to work on the base and you’re golden.
I tip my hat to ya, I'll keep that spot in mid when building my third base.

The PIDF officer at the small settlement implies there might be a mercenary system at full release. I wonder if that might actually expand all the way to being able to join one of the factions. (PIDF, Rayne, Free Alliance, Pyre, Geneticistss, and maybe more I havent found)

If that happens this game wont just kill Pokemon, its also gonna kill Fallout Scrolls.

Don't worry, thy're both already dead. Saarfield got that covered. Us Bethdrones are going to keep modding Skyrim forever, and the only new content will release in the form of ESO expansions and Skibidi Toilet mounts for the Kreashun Klub(tm).

I'm not an expert at pokemon games after they stopped being named after primary colors but I think it also makes dual typing way easier to follow as a result. Instead of having to consult.... Whatever the FUCK this is these days.

I've learned a few new tricks over the last 4 hours or so of gameplay. If you crouch while sprinting on an incline, you go into a slide that rapidly picks up in speed. If you jump and deploy your glider, you preserve the momentum. There's plenty of spots on the map to take advantage of it and it speeds up traversal time immensely.

I also discovered a similar use for the grapple gun. The first 2 tiers of it are kind of ass, but the 3rd and 4th are useful. If you begin a grapple and change weapons mid-air, you can cancel it and deploy your glider to maintain the speed. You can move through dungeons in a matter of seconds by grappling the ceiling and cancelling into a glide.

If you haven't been keeping a Galewing in the party for it's glide skill, you're missing out. It gives you a short burst of speed forward when it deploys and descends very slowly. It's even useful on the ground as a form of dodge. It carries you a good distance quickly even on flat ground.
