Honestly Occam's razor says he just drew a swirl because honestly I'd do the same thing in his place. To me he's just drawing shapes like with the rest of the wall. It kinda reminds me of how every geometric shape ends up every single time being some sort of swastika type symbol.

It probably isn't. There's just nothing for them to eat really. I won't say his house is clean for obvious reasons but it's not like there's food all over the floor or anything. Roaches aren't going to eat used diapers and meth. They might be animals but they're not that bad.
