If Nintendo really wanted to please their fans (and make a profit), all they would need to do is make an HD bundle of the first Paper Mario and TTYD for the Switch. A bundle like that would sell like hotcakes.

That's one of the biggest issues with Nintendo- they have such a huge back catalog of great games that would sell well if re-released, yet with some exceptions (HD ports of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, for example) they don't have any interest in bringing back some of their classics.

I get it, they want to put out new products, but they could still do that and bring back some of their classics at the same time.
Best combo pack ever: Paper Mario, Thousand Year Door, F-Zero GX with online multiplayer and leaderboards. HD treatment and otherwise no changes at all.

Nintendo fans buy everything. Some letsplayers have even made it a meme to hate on it but they still buy it.

Nintendo fans don't buy anything, because if they did actually good series like Metroid and F-Zero would sell well.

It would probably be more accurate to say Mario/Zelda/Pokemon/Smash Bros fans will buy anything.

>Implying LoZ is a bad franchise

Seriously though, it's either because those two barely have any bright and pretty colors or they aren't a crossover fanfic writers wet dream. I would know since that's why I never bothered to try those games when I was younger (the former not the latter).

To be fair to smash fans, there's yet to be a objectively terrible entry in the franchise.

But F-Zero’s pretty colorful.

It's really weird in that I feel like SSBU is the best game in the franchise, but also the game I'm most disappointed with if that makes any sense. Even though I guess arguably Brawl is the worst game I don't think we'll ever be able to recapture the chaotic hype for the game and the shitton of stuff it crammed into basically a pimped up gc disk.

I was just thinking that. GX had racetracks underwater, in a forest, among high-tech skyscrapers, high above Mute City at night, and inside a giant casino. Even the darker levels are really cool, like Lightning, and Fire Field. The visuals are a real treat so long as you don't fly off the track looking at them.

I would love to see some of F-Zero's more cyberpunk-style levels (like Mute City) on the Switch. If you want to use Mario Kart as a baseline just think how creative they could be with some of the course designs.

They abandoned Metroid for decades and then brought it back with dogshit games.

I’ll one up you: Paper Mario, ThPusan’s Year Door, F Zero GX, the Metroid prime trilogy, Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, and Super Smash Bro’s Melee

The one I was most disappointed with was 4... it’s a pretty great game but honestly felt kinda bare bones

Well the remake of 2 was ok in my book even when every purist believe that AM2R is the superior version

About paper mario, the first of 64 and thousands doors where good but then later Nintendo decide to remove almost all the RPG elements, i mean when i bought Paper mario 64 i thougt it was some kind of continuation of Mario RPG that god know we need another of those then it became more "Platformers with a combat system" my godson loaned me Color splash and i breezed it so quickly that it was not even a challenge

Yeah prime was pretty overrated.

After Sunshine, Wind Waker, Coliseum, and Melee it’s hard to disagree.

Gamecube was such a dogshit console.

How is Color Splash? The game looks beautiful, and I've read that the writing is quite good, but the battle system seems weird. I never played Sticker Star, but the battle system in that seems goofy as hell. I know CS is along those lines, but is it as bad as that one is supposed to be?

In some respects, it’s loads better than Sticker Star (There was slightly more variety between characters, the humor was better, the worlds were different but not too unique), but that’s not saying much. It still had the item based fighting style, and the gameplay was still pretty lackluster.

So basically slow but steady progress back to the series's previous standard of quality

It honestly was it sold like garbage and only within the past few years(because MUH NOSTALGIA) did the games start upticking in price.

The only noteworthy titles I'm missing from the system are Pokemon Bank and Gatchaforce.

I was able to purchase both gamecube and Wii Fire Emblems for 10 bucks each when toysrus was clearing them out. Gameboy player with disc was being gotten rid for 20 bucks, twin snakes was 8 dollars, Zelda Anthology was 10, nobody was buying it new or used. Many stores just started bundling gamecube games together so you wound up getting 2 games for 5 dollars. That's how I got Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 for the system. I paid 6 dollars for both Donkey Konga games and a set of Bongos new.

The big problem with the gamecube was that it was missing so many elements that made the n64 endearing to many in the west. That's a big reason why it sold less than it's predecessor.
