I'm still surprised how much stuff is left in Japan in the region-free, digital age. Just use Google translate and slap it up on the U.S eShop, why not, especially if it's a simple game. Nintendo has even released games in full Japanese before like The Mysterious Murasame Castle, so I don't see why they wouldn't...but they don't.

The Whacka Battle feels disappointing, everyone hyped it up as the HARDEST BOSS in the game but it's a quirky fight where if you just don't use multihits he's easy as shit, you just see the theater is rigged to drop all accidents on him just to drop more and more bumps. I also hate that I had to kill Whacka, I swear he could heal in the original game if you only hit him once and left him alone for a couple of screens

With all the shit they censored in the remake I'm very surprised they never censored Madame Flurrie. I'm not saying they should have, but with all the dialogue they removed due to "sexism" or whatever, Madame Flurrie's design was still ok? Nobody complained about it? I feel that Flurrie not being censored is because more people are thinking 'Why is violence okay but eroticism is not, especially in the United States?' Flurrie is also a girl, which gives Flurrie a lot of passes. (The same can be claimed with Francesca still being borderline abusive against Frankie.)
Then again, even though Flurrie is ultimately a Nipponese character, I feel tha those in charge of the new localisation think that she is 'Black-coded'; the new localisers would b even more positive o Flurrie.

She's supposed to be big, fat, and gross, which lines up with their body positivity and fat pride shit.

For contrast, they did tone down Valentina in SMRPG's jiggle physics because she's supposed to be "hot".

I plan on a mod that replaces a party member wi the character's prototype.
I used the script website in finding which lines the character says through the game.
In Chapter 3 alone, party members talk a lot.
Pain.

While they're still silly games, I still can't get over how stuff like "Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time" and "Super Paper Mario" didn't get censored by daddy Nintendo. A different era I guess.

There’s no way they would make someone like Francis today, and if they did, they would make it political.

(This was before you could go on YouTube and easily look up a full playthrough of any game you could think of.)

While localizations are currently the hot-button issue of Paper Mario, I found that this whole sequence did have some differences in the localization, but it’s all stuff that I’d argue adds more personality as opposed to outright censorship. The original line for the above screenshot was “Food fills the stomach. Figures fill the heart.”, referring to Francis’s love for action figures, which had already been mentioned multiple times.
