I'm genuinely curious about the legality of the situation here. Even though the game hasn't been released yet, I don't think Paradox has any legal grounds to claim copyright infringement. I'm no armchair lawyer regardless.
It's their intellectual property, whether they released it or not.

They still don't have to be cunts about it. Paradox's patches break their own products all the time. Maybe embrace the modder community here.

If Paradox was smart they would wait until the Community Patch comes out, then steal all the features from it that people like and put it in the paid game. Legally the mod devs would have no leg to stand on anyway and it wouldn't be the first time Paradox lifted stuff from mods and put it into paid products.

There are already backups and other people working on it. They can't stop it. Pretty dumb of them to try.

hows the ui. Any progressive stuff in it?
well soft biggotry of low expectaions is in full swing with all thsoe progressive hires...

well they made it clear that this was a real leak and not some stupid gayops.
thats way worse than just laughing and telling people that this is just the console port that leaked....

One saving grace for their games is the mods yeah. With enough time and proper mods the game -should- be good, a handful of the DLC might be alright as well. But please don't buy that shit and pirate it, and if anything get the base game and creamapi the rest.
Only while that shit is on sale, though. I'm probably going to go that way myself. I'm autistic enough to enjoy whacking myself in the face with PDX's terrible decisions if that's what it takes to turn the USA from a bunch of backwoods farmers into the world's industrial juggernaut. USA has the resources, all it needs is the time and guidance...

No, really, the whole East Coast can probably supply enough iron and coal for the whole world by itself once properly developed due to how many mine slots there are in its provinces.

Vic3 Game Director released a statement on the forums.
Interesting excerpts:
If what you want is less interaction between developers and community and a more closely guarded development for future Paradox projects, then leaks like this are the single best way to try and make that happen.
We have (of course) read many of the posts community members have made since playing the leak, both positive and negative ones. Fact is, no matter how in-depth or insightful, none of them identify anything that’s new or surprising to us. Many of the concerns raised were already scheduled to be addressed in the development plan up to release.
It has mainly served as a hit to the team’s morale and a distraction from finishing the game, and in fact made it harder for us to act on your feedback
we can’t help feeling disappointed and demoralized by how all of this went down
Hah.

These thin-skinned tankies would never survive in actual business software. You're forced to expose features early because sales heard about it and wants it now only to tell you it sucks and change it entirely before it even makes it to prod. Execs constantly coming by your desk to throw random shit features at you that don't have any actual customer feedback. Customer Success climbing up your asshole because you didn't listen to them and didn't put field validation specifically informing someone that they can't put nuclear launch codes as their username and now it's somehow your fault that the world is on fire. Feature requests being submitted as bugs and the endless arguments that creates. Missed vacations because the leadership team didn't plan for you to celebrate your anniversary or anything and expects you there all year.

Oh yeah, and customers getting early access to features and tearing you a new one because it doesn't give them the reacharound, do their taxes, or help the Dodgers win the World Series.

Paradox is deliberately doing what you're warned to never do in actual product management: avoid customer feedback and do things in isolation.

But I guess feels before reals and all that trump doing your actual fucking job and delivering value for the product. These guys fucking disappear for a month in winter and a month in summer on "break" and then have the soy balls to come back and complain when people tell them they're going to be releasing a product that isn't up to par.

What a bunch of whiny fags.

I don't play CK3, but it looks like the new Struggle mechanic coming up will be a cool addition to Holy Wars and Crusades, at least if they make it a generic system. Basically just soups up modifiers that encourage you to go to war, so you get more back-and-forth holy wars and rapid conversion to represent the Reconquista, but some forum posters also suggested it could represent the wars between Anglo-Saxon and Norse and between the Crusader States and the Muslims (outside of the big Crusades) well.

I’m debating about buying Stellaris if it can go on sale in the next two months. I see the name get thrown around here a lot.

Is Stellaris worth picking up?

I would give my left nut to have a proper competitor to Paradox right now.
Same. Paradox got too comfortable in their position and it really shows. How hard is giving people what they want? Apparently very.
V3 is barely recognizable as paradox title to me. I need to play it a bit more but first impressions weren't very good.

Maybe if Songs of the Eons properly finished this decade I'd have something to play without having to deal with PDX becoming the EA of the strategy market.

Beside SotE there's also Grey Eminence.

I got like 200h out of it so I would say it's worth it but I did get majority of my playtime before the big patches that turned the game upside down. I won't get into details because it's not relevant for new player but most things I don't like is how much of not really enjoyable micro is in the game. I enjoy microing my vassals in CK2 but I don't enjoy clicking buttons to make numbers go up on planets. Feel impersonal and like I am doing busy work that should be done by AI. If you can get pass that there's some really cool features they added like titan ships, super weapons and even more mega structures. Not to mention mods... gorillions of cool mods.
I don't think there's anything better at the moment on that scale. Maybe Distant Worlds 2 but I haven't play it.

I didn't really like Stellaris. I got it after really enjoying EU4, HOI4, and Endless Space 2. I hoped it would scratch a combined itch of the big scale and alien cultures but the factions didn't really hook me and exploration wasn't really fun. Without history to nerd about and no strong characterization it wasn't great for me. I didn't get any DLCs so maybe my opinion is based on a bad version of the game.

I really enjoyed stellaris, the modding scene certainly does really change up how to play it. I'd recommend getting it on sale or a definitely get if there is a humble bundle for it and the dlc.

It's actually an alright game, just has some issues when it comes to UI and heavy micro during late game. Would only recommend getting it with all DLC though and if you have a relatively good pc as the late game can be almost as laggy as HOI4 after 1944, mods are recomended but not necessary to spice up the game like vicky 2.

Go for Fanatic materialist and Xenophobe when you start your playthrough and try to tech rush, it's currently one of the most op builds and can be quite easy for newer players as you can have harsh border policies and not have to handle multiple alien species in your empire aside from your original pops and robots.

If you still have troubles just turn into a meta slave for your first playthroughs and follow montu plays' tier lists and check Aspec's tutorial series. The game can be relatively shorter than EU4 or HOI4 if you don't micro like hell so restarting isn't much of an issue.

Stellaris is on GOG, nab that shit from gog-games for free with all the DLC nigga

Also, I can't say I'm surprised at the dev's response. All a bunch of whiney man-children who couldn't take even an ounce of criticism. Boling down your response to 'Wahh wahh it isn't finshed! We totes are going to ignore your feedback because we KNEW it was shit since it isn't done!' means there is no hope for V3.

I think many of the paradox devs have been salty since /gsg/ made fun of their games with "mana" meme since EU4 release. Now it's " cookie clicker" meme whoever came up with it. Pretty funny. I think the worst part about it all is reading the forums and seeing how many dick suckers are there ready to defend product to the bitter end.

After giving it some thought there might be some hope. Maybe someone from management seen the public response and told them they need to basically scrap some things and start over? To avoid the Imperator disaster? That's why they are malding about it. They have to change their design and do more work :optimistic:

Nah to me their response basically read that "your feedback hurt our feelings so much we can't read it and process it properly to find out what you want us to change so ackhshually you shouldn't tell us our gamesux:'("
