How the fuck did that happen? Did this sperg like playing as Utah so much that he started studying the religion?
Here's the thread if you want to check, but I'll just copy-paste the text here:
Today, I am baptised into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints!

I have known the church a long time before my conversion. I am a big fan of After the End, and one of my most favorite starts is the Theodemocracy of Utah. I had very enjoyable experiences trying to fulfill the White Horse Prophecy :) , and it developed my interest in the LDS church as a church that is very peculiar, yet also intimately involved in American history. I learned how Mormons are renowned for their kindness and emphasis on family, clean living and communal support. One day, I happened to chance upon a Mormon church in Hanoi, and the people there live up to their reputation and more. I learned more about their faith, and I decided that this church fit my personal values and desires to do good Christ's name. With the gift of the Holy Spirit and the community that conquered Salt Lake with me, I feel inspired and confident to go out into the world, build a great life and glorify Him in me. Thank you, AtE devs, for your great work that have brought me great joy and lead me to eternal joy in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
It looks like it turned into a pretty big meme over the past week on the sub, with other users being led to Washington/The Atom/Whatever.

Since the thread is sort-of alive again, I'm gonna shill for Anbennar once more and mention that it's had its big 1.36 update with Scions of Sarhal, filling in the map's not-Africa with a whole bunch of new countries, along with revisiting a lot of old nation's mechanics and mission trees, and adding 33 new ones. It's also added a whole bunch of new art assets, which help flesh things out, including some unit models. Even added in achievements, interestingly. I think Paradox is moving into their usual holiday slumber, so getting a big DLC-sized update is pretty nice for content.
I actually missed the update release, although as a chad Bitbucket enthusiast I've been playing with the new shit for a while. The new telescope Dorfs have been kinda fun, although I accidentally cucked myself because I'm away from my normal computer for a while so I don't have access to my save so unless I redo the entire campaign I won't get to do the final observation and find out what's gazing back til the new year.

The new (or would it be technically old?) Dorf religion where you reject Ancestor Worship and return to monke Dwarf Gods is a weird one. The system, which is basically just a reskin of Judaism from base game, can be surprisingly powerful. Bunch of really nice passive bonuses and some fucking insane ritual bonuses (instant +20% dig progress on capital or +1 passive dig level to another hold is fucking insane) but the fact that it requires yet another disaster, and one of the most obnoxious ones at that, just ruins it for me. It might not be too bad if you're playing super tall, but then you might end up getting screwed on rediscovering the gods so it's kind of a wash.

Also not specific to the new update or anything but man I forgot just how OP Lorent can get if they're allowed to pick up steam. In my dorf game I control all the Northern regions, most of the Forbidden Plains and basically all of the Serpentspine down to Seghdihr and I'm still comfortably second place to Lorent, with third and fourth being miles away.

Honestly, that makes a lot of sense. I don't remember when I first became aware of early Mormon history but my experience with the religion followed a similar course, just he happens to be Vietnamese (lolwtf) and stumbled across it in a very autistic way.

Sometimes I feel like the interest/obsession with Dwarves being the CBT/Disaster simulator is a bit much. I tried out a recent dwarf game and messed a bit with it, since I haven't touched BitBucket since the whole expedition system, and god, how infuriating. Risk vs. Reward, sure, but some of those "long" expeditions should probably be renamed to "very long." Each time I thought it was over it just turned around and said "Let's keep going!" Can't imagine doing that shit on ironman mode. The whole Speed5 gameplay in the Serpentspine is just so weird, but I guess that's one thing I like about the mod, how different countries are versus normal EU4 gameplay.

Are you messing around any with Great/Mythical Conquerers? I usually like to throw GCs on when I'm playing a bigger nation, but still never touch MCs. One of these days I'm probably going to have a breakdown and try a Kobold Coast MCs campaign and just see if I can survive to end-date.

I always thought learning about the early LDS would be a huge turn off for most people

Yeah having like half a dozen potential disasters is a bit much. It's also kind of funny that for the telescope dorfs their entire central mechanic is technically another disaster. I say technically because as you use the observatory your "astral terror" starts to ramp up, and if it gets to 100% something bad happens, however it's super super easy to not do it because you can temporarily disable the observatory whenever you want, at which point it starts ticking back down. I tended to limit mine to ~20% max and I'm still basically done with the MT by the early to mid 1600s (I could have finished the final observation mission already but there's one more optional mission that involves the Ravelians being spawned that I was waiting for just for completion's sake).

Yeah I'm not a huge fan either. I know that they're basically meta for a good start as an adventurer, and I find the fact they were able to implement a system like that kind of impressive, but after a while they do get kinda boring. I basically only really bother with the unique ones (which you can easily tell apart) because they can have some cool rewards + unlock some Wonders.

I pretty much always use GCs, and have used MCs a couple of times. They don't always do much for me because I rarely play that late into the game where they become a big thing. However when they do affect the game it can be fun. I've had two super memorable games with conquerors.

In one Black Demesne game I got a little too AE happy mopping up Inner + South Castanor and didn't juggle my truces properly so I ended up facing two coalitions simultaneously. One of a GC Bjarnrik + Gawed and some randos and one of Lorent + basically the entire EOA. Thankfully Castanor, especially if you control the Walls is basically super defensible, and thanks to undead military I could basically slowly outlast them.

Second game was a Varamhar -> Phoenix Empire run where I chewed my way through the Raj which had gone both West into Jadd, and conquered all the new crap to the South. Finally got through that and then ran smack into a MC Command. Holy shit was that war just pure fucking pain. I eventually got to 2 mil techs ahead + had multiple 3 star generals and was still struggling like hell to eventually beat them.

If you are talking about things like Joseph Smiths history as a scammer. I’m referring to their exodus, independence, attempts to build a society.
Yeah the golden plates the massacres in the west the polygamy how the religion changes at politically convenient times etc.

Well, I feel you're just looking to bag on it, but if you think about it seriously, the main pitch of Mormonism in its own day was that it fed into American exceptionalism of its day and the anxieties of a young New World culture, kind of dislocated/cut off from the home culture, by shifting the spiritual focus of the world from the Old World to the New World while also doing weird Hebrew LARPing. Old Testament mixed with Constitution type of vibe. Then you throw in this great epic saga about trekking across deserts and plains and dealing with Indians and a mighty evil empire, except set within pioneer America, and it's fascinating and to some people would be deeply appealing. Other religions have other kinds of appeal.

Which isn't much of an excuse for that Vietnamese guy, but if he's playing After the End a lot he probably IS some what of an Americaboo.

I never have understood any of the common bugbears people have for the basic Mormon story. To me the obvious one to go after would be the racist stuff and the idea of Indians being descended from a Bronze Age Jewish culture, for which there is very little evidence for and a lot of evidence against. But instead people get hung up on shit like seer stones, "magic underwear" and baptism for the dead, all of which come out of the Bible or out of ancient Christian practice. I don't know if golden plates make any Biblical appearance but I don't find the whole idea of it much different from Moses going to go have private conversations with talking burning bushes where he gets stone tablets. Other than that in that story it would have been less plausible for him to have carved up a tablet that quickly.

All the shenanigans with not showing people the things do point to Smith lying. The whole story with The Pearl of Great Price being "Reformed Egyptian" is asinine, too.

Yeah its the very obvious lies in the beginning plus I take Christianity very seriously so I don't much like heretical movements wearing Christ as a skinsuit.
Anyways back on topic the 'auto-built ships', in stellaris, are so fucking stupid sometimes I want to scream, it seems like it deliberately chooses suboptimal designs just to fuck with you it is immensely frustrating.

I am mad that I just wasted 8 hours on a Teuton>Danzig>Prussia>Germany game by learning just as I went down for Prussian Kingdom path that I had to complete the Teuton HRE mission to get the focus unlocked now I gotta restart (:_(

I need help, when i try to launch CK2 it crash even before the launcher is visible
My brother in Christ if you want help with a technical issue online you need to give us something to work with. The obvious first step would be to check what the error log says (My Documents > Paradox Interactive > Crusader Kings II > logs)

Other than that some basic info might help. is it a legit copy, or pirated?
If legit are you trying to run a DLC unlocker like Cream API? Have you tried verifying files?
If pirated which crack are you using? Have you checked your AV isn't interfering? Have you tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling? Have you tried downloading a different crack?
Have you checked the installation and the Documents > Paradox Interactive folders aren't set to read only?
