What are your expectations for the EU5 release?

We've gotten so much more footage and dev diaries giving us an understanding of how the entire game functions, so it makes sense to have way more hope.

TF on Eastern Europe and my beloved Pooland.
It also feels like the game is keeping a lot of the mechanics from the previous one, unlike CK 3 as an example that ended up adding a lot of what CK 2 had slowly

It appears that more and more content creators are receiving pre-release copies

Yeah Lambert mentioned in his dev diary video today that a bunch of new creators were added to the pre-release Discord, and hilariously a bunch of them apparently struggled playing Holland which is one of the suggested tutorial nations.

The ISP screenshot also reminded me, for those who've not seen the embargo for vids doesn't end until the 2nd Nov, with some of the super early players allowed one vid on 31st. Maybe it's just me, but that seems like an insanely late embargo for a game like EU V, and especially for the creators who've spent the last several months essentially doing free Q+A for them.

I'm interpreting the late date from the other direction. EU5 isn't exactly Baby's First FPS, the game is mechanically complex. It's late to give the reviewers time to figure it out instead of giving a hot take after only a dozen hours.

I'd be worried if the embargo was only lifted on release. But it's not, so I'm not. Still not gonna pre-order though.

Was Holland ever considered a tutorial nation in previous EUs? Sure, like Portugal, you can grow fat on trade and colonies, but you're also bordering the BBB and the HRE, and I'm pretty sure in order to do Holland you have to start as Burgundy and release it, and Burgundy itself isn't trivial to play normally.

I know VTM 2 is only published by Paradox, but if anyone had hope for this, I suggest abandoning it. Sitting at 64 on metacritic atm.

Youtuber The Red Hawk got caught using cheats in his videos and started sweeping up anyone mentioning it in the comments lmao.

What I really wanna see is the ability to just rename your nation/provinces/leader/whatever. It's a pain in the ass since you usually have to use localisation keys (At least in HOI4) but it's baffling since EU4 and CK2 had this with custom nations and the customization pack respectively. Would enhance the LARP aspect majorly.

You might in IV, it's been so long since I played it I honestly don't remember. In V you don't because they're still free at the start date, the Burgundians historically didn't start moving in on them for another couple of decades

I feel like anyone who still has hope for this shitshow after everything it's been through is beyond helping at this point.

Honestly I always kinda figured content creators probably cheat at least a little bit.

Content creator did an AMA, they've been given permission to discuss everything related to EU5.
I like Cristo (his MEIOU vids were the only reason I ever even managed to give that mod a shot) but it feels a little weird to see him doing an AMA, especially answering questions on flavour and his impressions and shit given he's only had the game for a couple of days at this point.

That is actually very good. I want the game to be difficult and hard to learn, and if people who werent massive sweats in EU4 could easily perform, it would be too easy

Every content creator that I've seen talking about the game had said that it's a lot harder to learn and that's great. I'd rather have a game that is challenging me throughout an entire campaign instead of hitting the 1400s/1500s and already having won.

Tbh I do know people who got a thousand hours and don't "win" by 1500, but that is usually caused by profound mental retardation.

When EU5 releases everyone will be on the hunt for optimal choices and abusable mechanics, so it may devolve. Which I hope it doesn't.
