What are your expectations for the EU5 release?

Played about four hours as Ashikaga (Japan) in EU5. So far? Im bored as shit. I know theres a LOT to learn in this game, and Ive automated trade and production for the most part thus far as they seem the most complex systems to learn, but even still...Im just not having any fun. Japan is having the northern and southern court situation right now, so I built a spy network and declared against the Southern Emperor to end the conflict, only...nothing really happened. None of the clans who supported either side jumped in. There was no huge battle between all the lords of Japan. I just fought the emperor and his 300 men with my 40000 levies. And because the emperor is unlanded, there is nowhere for me to siege, so after destroying his army im just supposed to wait years for ticking warscore...which is fucking retarded. Eventually I was forced into a white peace, making the entire exercise completely pointless. I delved a bit more into production during that time, and Im seeing that the game REALLY wants you to build a lot of shit, which I suppose is understandable now that mana devving is gone, but still, the fact that the big war thats meant to define early game Japan is either bugged or hidden behind some requirement the game has not deigned to show me has really decreased my enthusiasm for it going forward. I'll keep playing, of course. Im sure that time will yield more results, but man, I dont remember EU4 being this dull when I first learned to play it.

On the plus side, no crashes so far. Mostly bugs with army/navy units appearing on provinces other than the ones they ACTUALL are on.

Thats enough for me to call this a Johan W.

Don’t listen to the demoralization about bugs and passive AI, Johansisters, those are clearly just lies from the corrupt Paradox swamp back in Stockholm. Do not listen to Stockholm lies, Tinto patriots will save Paradox from overly simple and casual gaming. The ultimate GSG will be perfected, and Paradox will be made great again by a leader who is high energy. Trust the Johan. #WWG1WGA

Either I am retarded (Likely) or there is no way to disable popups. I have the plague so my pops are dying on mass and I keep getting THESE FACTORIES HAVE LOW WORKER!!!! I searched through the message settings and can't see an obvious way to stop these messages from popping up, which they do on repeat every month.I am in a defensive league and every month tick without fail someone tries to change the defense policy from automatic join to maybe join back to automatic join. Its changed 10 times in the last 10 months. I cant clear that notification either without leaving the defensive league.

No crashes so far for me at least.

Edit: I have learned these popups are HINTS. I cannot find anywhere where to turn these fuckers off.

Was waiting for this game from first Tinto Talk, and now when it launched I am stack in the middle of nowhere with an old work laptop and bad Internet… Also it’s crazy that there is no mac or Linux version of the game, this is literally worst than holocaust for us autists.

So, I've played for two and half hour yesterday mostly just checking countries and stuff for the first hour and then moving on to Florence. Surprisingly zero crashes. On my laptop with 16GB and CPU slightly below minimal requirements the performance was acceptable. I've progressed 18 years changing between speed 4 and 5 and pausing A LOT to check out different things.

Fought in two wars, one scripted(?) against Verona, one against some Tuscan minors to consolidate region. In both my side had a significant advantage so I can't comment much on the new warfare. One thing I've noticed was that enemy's stack hiding from bigger armies in the middle of bumfuck nowhere got completely decimated by lack of food. This hopefully means that there won't be any chasing of the shitty AI stacks running around your territory.

Might be a Dunning-Kruger effect but the mechanics don’t seem that complicated compared to the impression I got from reading through Tinto Talks (admittedly I’ve automated trade and production methods). I have no idea about the best meta and what outcomes should I go for but I can understand what mechanics cause certain things and how can I affect the outcomes. I like return to sliders and it seems that you may have significantly different gameplay depending on how you approach them.

Content wise, as Florence, I got a few events, the most significant of which led to war with Verona and PU with Epirus. Of course, it’s too early to tell but there is comparable amount of content for other regions, I think it will be fine. The new situation and international organisation mechanics also seem interesting. For Italy there is Guelphs and Ghibellines, I think you can also take sides in 100 years war but I stayed away from that one. From what little I saw, situations and organisation will be a good way to provide some goals for player outside of just painting map without railroading you like the EUIV missions did which, if I’m right, would be a huge plus.

Interface. Yeah, it’s ugly. 3d characters are pointless waste of space (I do like the role characters play in the game though, it’s nowhere near CK3 level, but they do affect estates. It’s a bit like they do with parties in Vic3, which is neat for EU game). But I can completely disconnect from that. I’m a type of person who could play a single character in CK from infancy to old age for hours and couldn’t tell what he looks like after turning off the game. The bigger problem is the functionality of the interface. I don’t think it's only a matter of getting used to it. It’s inconsistent in its design there are different looking tabs, buttons, icons. Sometimes it’s hard to tell whether some UI element even is a button. This makes looking for specific things take much longer than necessary. I wouldn’t be surprised if I missed the existence of some menus completely.

Overall, though, all I can say is that I can’t wait to go back home to play more tonight. I’m more excited now than I was yesterday before starting game for the first time. These are very early impressions so I’ll reserve my judgement until I get to play it more over the weekend but I’m optimistic. So far I would put it above any current PDX launch. It’s much better than CK3’s launch (which despite the disappointment it turned out to be, its original release seemed like a solid base to build on). Back then I could point out tones of mechanics missing from CK2. Can’t really do that with EU4. Majority of content that got lost comes from mission trees and country specific mechanics introduced in the later dlcs. If the mechanics of EU5 work the way they are intended helping to generate narrative, that loss should not be that much noticeable.

EU5 is dogshit and retards have been psyopped into shilling it. Enjoy having the same content resold that was sold piece by piece to you in EU4 resold to you again as they drip feed you garbage overpriced DLCs while the game gets shittier and shittier.

Judging from a video, there appear to be cabinet actions for "expel people from this province" and "assimilate wrong-culture people in this province", but not for "expel wrong-culture people from my country".

LIterally unplayable, I need to expel the jews (I owe them money)

Johan pls fix

expelling the jews should not give a negative modifier to your taxes
that's just fucking retarded

Depends on the location. In Eastern Europe in places like Ruthenia/Ukraine and Belarus and such the Jews were used as tax collectors for a good while. Caused a massive pogrom once there was a revolt cause they made for good attack targets.

Well, I'm playing Holland. I had a war with Utrecht where I surprisingly full-annexed them despite occupying only their capital (They had some extra disconnected land on that Dutch in-land sea), I guess I'm having fun but there's too many alerts on the top of the screen and too much stuff ON the map proper. I might be able to form Holland by 1444 if things go well enough. I'm already having more fun in EU5 than EU4 by virtue of actually winning.

As for bugs, haven't noticed any that are too glaring but I'm getting notifications in the bottom right like "Watozo's spy got compromised" despite them being a Daiymo in the middle of Terra Incognita. I think the little building icons in foreign states are bugs too, they really clog up the screen. On the topic of performance, it's OK. I've made it to 1342 in an hour of playtime counting sitting through the basic tutorial and the tutorial for the economy and the years go by rather fast, I think they only last a minute or two on 5 speed, my CPU is the recommended spec but I've got 16 gigs of RAM so only 30 FPS, though the game seems to only use 6-8 gigs. I give it 4 and a half stars out of 5.

Wiz and his gaggle of tranny programmers are the main ones probably shitting on EU5 due to Johan in the past making fun of their turd of a game. Wiz wishes he could make something as good but is only capable of ruining the Stellaris franchise and now the Victoria one. Go engage in sodomy with your tranny programmers you negroidic fraud!

Expelling the moneylending class should give you some buffs to stability and a negative tax modifier.
moneylending isn't wealth generation though
they even have this as a game mechanic if you go business focus and get requested a loan for the guy to build a quarry or whatever
it's just completely random if he will actually create something that will pay off your loan, just like in real life

>expelling the jews as a gluttonous, wrothful, envious, slothful, proud, lustful, greedy, homosexual ruler in CK2 right before your loan from them expires
>getting canonized as a saint by a wicked pope after you die

One thing that Ive noticed that due to the map tilt the game forces its almost impossible to tell which province an army is attacking. Its not where the indicator is but where the army is. Idk just feels strange!
