Figured I'd ask here, is there a way to use mods with a pirated version of HOI4? I want to fuck around with mods but I don't want to give those kikes at Paradox any money.
Yes, use the Irony Mod Manager. Works for a lot of Paradox' titles and you can even customize the mod folder location. For the mods themselves, Skymods is the place to go.

Victoria 3 DLC Great Wave reviews

I wonder if Paradox used whoever tested Creative Assembly's Rome II: Total War all those years ago. Maybe not as it appears not to hard crash after 5 minutes, but it basically doesn't do what it's supposed to do, that is, deliver a tolerable naval mechanic. Patches are being fired out, but after a month, the reviews aren't improving. Massively nerfing small countries is also a real anti-fun measure, leaving aside what seems to be patent flaws. I could never get in to the base game, tho I play it on a rare occasion.
They're still leagues above CA, although it can always get lower. Fingers crossed. CA is a fucking dumpster fire at the moment.

I didn't realize that Jersh had such a following in 40's Russia.
We really shouldn't be giving Jersh money. He could just wait for 70 days and get free civilians

It has became so routine and normal now for Paradox to release a DLC that inevitably gets bad reviews.
Last positively received one was Gotterdamerung I think, which was a pretty good one honestly. I don’t really play much of the other titles but Graveyard Of Empire was utterly unplayable on release and No Compromise, No Surrender looked just as bad.

Gotterdamerung wasn't all that good, a lot of it was it being over rated because of the German revamp; something that had already been (partly) paid for previously with Waking the Tiger. Hungary was another case of an updated focus tree. The only countries to actually receive a focus tree which didn't have any are Austria (Habsburg larp omg), Belgium (it was the last involved country not to have one in Europe) and the Congo (who asked?)

The raids feature, the main stay of the update wasn't all that good. Special projects are meh, the type of thing you do once and don't do again because it's not worthwhile unless you're going for a specific play, say super stealthy subs with the tiles. But it's not really good game design and you're made to go out of your way for something you don't need. The last DLC which was actually good, and needed, was No Step Back. I'm still not a fan of designers (unless it's a mod with a good navy one, but that's just autism. I suppose others would be the same with tanks and planes. But in the base game, it's just predisposed to a simplified meta and I will bitch about how badly the starting navies are done by Paradox. Case in point, the Renowns only having 1 gun slot added which is a big no. It had 6 15 inches). It still had problems, but Gotterdamerung must be understood as being the start of returning to focus trees and making people pay for them again, and for the new features to be useless bloat.

The buying ships mechanic is supposed to represent the fact that everyone and their mother had ships built by British yards, but the game doesn't allow you to just order a ship from someone else's yards like you should.

This was addressed in a dev diary.

I would like to start with a note on ship commissioning, where you order a ship to be built by another country before it actually exists: We would of course have liked to do that, but it was simply not feasible. The added complexity for this is many many times more time consuming. Apart from needing to add foreign entries into your own ship construction queue (which is to this day a source of bugs in foreign investment), one would have to come up with custom code solutions for all of these questions and more around its edgecases:
  • What happens if the shipyards in the commissioned country get destroyed or occupied?
  • Can you deprioritize an entry you got from another country? Is that breaking the treaty? If so, what happens in that case?
  • What do you do with a half-finished ship entry if the treaty is nullified? Do you switch it to the building country's ownership?
  • Do you have to crew the ship to ferry it to its target destination?
I hope you can see that, unfortunately, it’s a bit more complicated than simply granting another country their ship construction points. Therefore this was out of reach for us.

To compensate for this lack of ordering, we’re making it so the AI will try to produce a small extra percentage of ships compared to how big they’d like their fleet to be, so that there should be enough options for ship purchasing.

This shit is such a cope from the lazy and incompetent snow niggers.
  • If the shipyard gets destroyed, then simply cancel the order and reimburse the owner of the ship. If the shipyard gets occupied, pause the construction until the original owner takes it back. If it exchanges hands, then cancel the order and reimburse the owner of the ships, do not overcomplicate things by having the new owner honor the treaty.
  • Yes, you should be able to deprioritize, it is not breaking the treaty as long as you can still deliver the ships before a date set in the treaty. If you take too long to deliver the ships then the owner of said ships should be compensated with money, the longer it takes you, the more money you have to pay, it should also increase exponentially, every year after the original date, to prevent the player from forgetting about it, the AI should always prioritize building the ships unless at war, then it should prioritize its own ships.
  • You should also be able to seize ships being constructed for foreign powers, it happened more than once in IRL. The AI should only seize ships if it significantly inferior in naval power during a war or during the latter stages of a diplomatic play. The owner of the ships should be compensated.
  • Scrap it for money or seize and finish the construction if you're the one building the ship, if were the one to commission the ships should either get compensation or if the other country refuses to compensate you, then you can either get a war goal or seize any assets of theirs in your country.
  • The owner of the ship that sends the crew, if said country doesn't have the crew, then the builder, if neither have the crew, then construction of the ship is paused.

I absolutely despise the raids mechanic, it fucks everything up and is basically a coin toss for no real gain. Darkest Hour-like scripted events with choices would be better than what we got.

Paradox HATES the possibility of trading worthwhile shit in-game. I don't understand that mindset, playing as a 'neutral' nation selling weapons to both sides of a conflict is not something out of this world. Maybe fear of the mp fags chimping out about muh balance?

Danish YouTuber Bo Johannensen (known as Bokoen1) is a popular content creator in the Grand Strategy community. He is prominently known for his short-form, In a Nutshell video series, with his HOI4 In a Nutshell series having over 400 videos and counting. These videos are condensed versions of his streams and contain not just himself, but his friends and fellow content creators as they play against each other in weekly competitions of Hearts of Iron IV, a WWII Grand Strategy game. Bo has been an active content creator since 2010, and while he and his friends are notorious for saying edgy things, but they are almost always connected to the game they are playing.

He is also a massive weeb, with a peculiar obsession with a show called Girls Und Panzer, where little high school girls play simulated tank battles as a sport. There are many examples of his obsession with this show, including figurines of the main characters and using a clip from the show as a subscription sound on Twitch.

There was a charity event in which one of the goals was that he would do the rest of the stream dressed as one of the main characters (a high school girl), and a higher goal, which, if it was achieved, he would walk to his local McDonald's, still in costume, and order food. Suffice to say, he's a bit spergy.

A few days ago, while streaming, Bo went on a tirade, which boiled down to the Allies during WWII should have, instead of doing the Yalta Conference (in which the US, UK, and USSR split up Nazi Germany and its allies into their respective spheres of influence), they should have taken Nuclear bombs and destroyed Moscow and other populated areas. He also stated that the Russian populace deserves "how retarded the Russian Population is for not, like, doing anything against their fucking dictator and authoritarian regimes". This tangent was said during a live game, with other members of his group, including his editor, Braun, who was commenting on his spiel, and popular member and fellow streamer GoldenSpatula, trying to get him to simmer down.

Yesterday, at roughly 6:30 in the morning on America's East Coast, Bo had his Twitch channel permanently banned from the site. Good friend and fellow Grand Strategy YouTuber ISorrowProductions (or ISP) posted this to Bo's Discord server. Their friend group is also really into everyone's favorite VTuber, and have themed their profiles with him.

After trying to get this ban appealed, Bo had gotten confirmation that the ban was going to stay in place, and he would be allowed to try again in six months.

In light of this situation, Bo has moved to the streaming platform Kick. Commenting on the sort of riff-raff who stream on the site, >triangle.mp3, Bo has made an additional statement that while Kick is more free with their TOS, he will be having his stream moderators enforcing the Twitch TOS.

This is probably to ensure the sperglings that watch his streams don't have meltdowns, and ensures that the channel he posts the recordings of his streams to is still monetizable. This is the logical conclusion, as in his editied videos he uses "Country Balls" as they are called to represent the people talking and show you what nation they are playing. For the German Reich, Bo will have the Swaztika censored in thumbnails, as well as for ~1 minute at the start of the video to ensure he can make money.

Fucking Kick? Was streaming on YouTube too sensible for him?
YouTube kikes would probably try and nuke him due to random Iron Crosses showing up while playing a WW2 game.
I believe he streamed on Twitch way before YouTube had streaming integration. As I said at the end, he does a lot to not get demonized, but as soon as it's past the first minute, he will show the Windmill of Friendship.

Seems like he isn't going to learn a single thing from this at all. No one in that group likely will.

Yeah, I really hate RNG in the context of nuclear bombs in how HOI4 deals with it. Look at missile strikes with nukes. They have about a 95% chance of success, which definitely was not the case with early rocketry. Then there's how planes get up to 75%, and if a nuclear strike fails you have to wait like 2 years before trying again in that state on the specific form. There's a bunch of other raids, but the cool down thing is dumb. I get it from a gameplay perspective, but if we're going from a gameplay perspective it really shouldn't. Nukes take a long time to develop, unless you build up a meta industry and spam out nuclear production but even then.

Then there are other raids like dam busters and what not. Which despite them mattering a lot irl, don't really matter in the context of the game when most people really do not care about the strategic air part of the game and would rather throw a million men onto the beaches of normandy in 42.

Or if they're smart, would paradrop into Paris after the fall of France, get Vichy France to merge with Free France immediately after the fall of France, and then steal the French fleet that way (no clue if you can do that with the new dlc as it was related to the old decisions with exile governments. I don't care for alt history slop).

I feel people have said worse on KF. Then again I am desensitized and not a normie cattle goon slave twitch mod that is highly risk adverse.

Well, they are autistic. I also am of the personal belief that this was a stupid ban. I'm not a law expert, but Twitch is a US company, and going on an autistic tirade about glassing Russia is protected by that. Maybe he should put the schoolgirl outfit on and say he's a troon
