For those of you who like Crusader Kings II, the After the End Fan Fork mod is excellent.

It’s basically a post apocalyptic/low fantasy medieval setting mod set in the Americas with its own unique lore, religions and cultures.

For instance, the Americanist religion worships the founding fathers, Abe Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt and Teddy Roosevelt as gods. (They’re actually very similar to Hellenism because they can dedicate temples to their “gods” for buffs)

The Deep South is this mod’s Holy Roman Empire/Byzantine Empire analogue. (They have an autocephalous religion, like Byzantium, but are decentralized like the HRE).

California is interesting. They’re sort of this weird blend of medieval China and the Japanese sengoku period. On paper, they’re an empire but in actuality, the emperor’s authority stops where his palace grounds end. (They even have their own version of the Shogun called the “Governatus”)

Also this mod adds a Luchadore Reconquista of Mexico and an accompanying warrior lodge.

But i can just play the fallout mod for hoi 4...
It’s not really a fallout mod. There are elements that are inspired by fallout (atom cultists are likely inspired by the children of the Atom). AFAIK the mod started as a Canticle for Leibowitz themed mod and kind of blossomed into its own thing.

Although I will say the fallout mod for HOI4 is excellent.

Hoi4 AI is broken since the last DLC, YEAAAY! France and Italy lose millions of soldiers in africa, the brits are to stupid to use their airforce, Germany got cucked by the new mechanics and the Soviets fuck up their war by declaring on Persia very early....

I never understood how Paradox releases so many DLCs that are almost unplayable on Day 1 because they break some gameplay mechanic. Is it that hard to sit someone down and have them play it for a few hours before release and see if anything looks really kinda funny?

Wait, the AI was competent at some point?

Wait, the AI was competent at some point?
Except for amphibious/naval warfare, it was reasonably competent at one point. Never as competent as a human, of course, but there was a logic behind its actions.

Idk, my only experience was beating Russia with Romania because the Russians threw literal hordes against fortified mountain troops. All because under a specific fort level it would disregard it entirely.

Wouldn't stop until its drained mp pool made it impossible to carry on.

Tbf that was earlier revisions, but logic isn't always good logic. Maybe they made it more dynamic since then?

Wait, the AI was competent at some point?
Yes and no, from what I read they wrote very, very specific scripts for how the AI should plan and react in certain scenarios. So if things progressed along certain lines, the AI would be competent, but once things went too much off the rails all bets were off. I guess that's what broke it, introducing new shit without properly updating the rigid scripts.

Ah, yeah, that's what I was thinking. For a game that claims such freedom of choice, they really needed to step up AI design. It really falls flat on it's face as soon as you find those rigid boundaries and go even a little past them.

It was way more competent 2 patches ago. it could even naval invade(not good but it worked atleast). they even fixed the fort attacks for some time, atleast a bit.
now its all broken, they dont even try to get green air if they push.

Good news guys!

Maybe you might even perform Transgender surgery on your heir without having to play as a byzantine ruler!

Can't wait to torture and execute my gay, transgender, bisexual Satanist furry son in Crusader Kings 3.

Identifying the degenerates just makes it easier for me to purge them in holy Catholic fire.

thats not news, you could do both in ck2. its just more easy in 3 i guess.
Yeah but making people trans required castration tortures which is a Byzantine or get a real fucking idiot as a doctor (just like in real life). The Asexual thing is granted though, "Virtue: Chastity" is basically the Ace/Incel trait.

I play After the End a fair bit, but the fanbase has turned into a bunch of politically-correct pussies. Don't care much for the fanon either, but more and more of it's being implemented, and the setting is starting to feel overdesigned.

CK2 dev diaries are so frustrating. I didn't really expect them to include China, but now:

We lose nomads.
Not only is there no naval warfare (which is extremely important for merchant republics), but there's no republics at all.
Most of your army is going to consist of undifferentiated generic "levies."

But whoop-de-doo, we get customizable heresies! Now you can magic your lolmurderincest heresy in instead of being Zoroastrian!

Trash.

It's just flash. Soulless cartoony flashy bullshit graphics, replacing the old charming ones, and no expansion on anything else except for the one or two things the new fanbase (the lolhorsecouncillorgameofthrones fans) likes.

Good news guys!

What's the problem with this? They should have done this a long time ago. It's historically accurate, relevant (though CK2 Vanilla doesn't really punish it like it should; being an outed homosexual ought to have real big effects on piety and relations with the clergy, probably prestige and other things to), and the current system of "gay or straight" doesn't really do a good job.

Please we are talking about a game that if you play Zoroastrians they pretty much tell you to fuck your sister/brother, also being gay was considered a bad trait because the character refused to stop taking the cock to produce heirs, same is going to happen with this, nothingburguer for clicks

Because it's a pointless anachronism? There was no such thing as "bisexuality" anywhere in that time period. If you slept with men, you were considered a sodomite. It didn't matter if you slept with women too, or even formed romantic relationships with them. A homosexual in CK2 is for all purposes a bisexual because they still sleep with the opposite sex and produce kids like many committed homosexuals throughout history did (and still do). What gameplay mechanics really warrants that? Being able to fall in love with the opposite sex as a bisexual while a homosexual can't?

Same thing with asexuality. It did not exist as a concept separate from celibacy. An asexual still has to fuck and make babies like everyone who isn't clergy in CK2. I guess it could work gameplay-wise by making the asexual more likely to demand to be a monk/nun/priest and decreasing their fertility.
