Downloaded CK3 but cant do much since my laptop isn't up to par to run it. Will have to wait till i get home.

But the fact that a medieval dynasty eugenics simulator has asexual option in it annoys me far greater then i would expect it to. Just so fucking dumb.
just ignore it and it'll go away
machivaelean seducer bisluts are the real political power sexuality in the game anyway

There is literally nothing ahistorical about the system as presented in ck3.

Besides it plays into the strategy. Unless caught, being a sodomite (yes being caught in bed with a man nets you the sodomite trait) does not lower opinion

Having an asexual character is also fairly fucking safe. No chance of your character developing deviant quirks independently and having it bite you in the ass 20 years down the line.

(They do make Harald Fairhair gay but he was oddly obsessed with his hair for a viking.)

Its so obviously pandering that it annoys me. Asexuality isn't even real, just a modern meme idea because a bunch of shut in losers burned themselves out on internet porn and want to claim a special identity for themselves..

The bisexual trait is dumb but at least it makes more sense in the game. I wonder if there is a mod to remove asexuality from the game.

asexuality is a lot like Dissociative Identity Disorder, where it's a condition that likely exists in some capacity, but it's dramatically overrepresented by malingering autismos and their recklessly enabling psychs who misdiagnose.

having radically different personalities is not a sign of DID. having little interest in sexual relationships doesn't make you an asexual.

Generally, I agree the sexualities are mostly pandering - I imagine there will be a "sex" DLC where all this shit will be expanded (hilarity ensues)

It isn't pandering. Characters have a 5% of being gay and a 1% chance of being asexual.

Being gay means you can't romance (plot to make a character into a soulmate you can still seduce if you want) female characters and being asexual means you cant romance or seduce anybody.

It was called Chaste in CKII. Made far more sense as a trait.

This is just dumb dumb pandering.
Chaste is still in the game. They decoupled the "im celibate for god" (monks, certain monarchs) from the "i dont care about sex, i have work to do" (Alexander the Great, Basil II)

They're treated as two totally separate game mechanics.

Also who the fuck are they pandering to tumblr? Game isn't exactly popular on tumblr. Games media? Games media loves using historical phrases from the game as evidence of nazi dogwhistles in the game.

Besides you're going to wish your character was asexual when emperor Biggus Dickus, lustful seducer extraordinaire dies after having sixty male children and fractures your realm into sixty pieces.

The type of people to write and agree with articles about a incredible niche "sexuality" in a incestual eugenics simulator because MUH REPRESENTATION. You don't think the strange amount of articles on assorted news sites suddenly all coming out around the same time and then a game comes out with the same.

This is 100% appeal to diversity crowd. I'm well aware of alot of the ahistorical crap in the series, but this is just dumb. Whatever, I'm just gonna send any asexual character to the dungeons as a freak as anyways.

Good luck finding one at your court

Harald Fairhair was rather obsessed with his hair because he had originally said he wasn't going to cut or groom it until he had become the King of All Norway and gotten himself a hot princess to be his queen. And as you can probably guess from his name, he united all of Norway and got himself a hot princess, then immediately made up for lost time. Also, the Vikings were indeed rather obsessed with neatness, post-settlement had the native English leveling complaints about them stealing all their women away with their fastidiousness and neatly-trimmed hair.

Speaking as someone who plays CK2 religiously, Chaste is different to Celibate, which is different to Eunuch.

Chaste is a virtue and so can be given through education (this is why you always educate your heir yourself, otherwise you end up with a shy gluttonous Indulgent Wastrel) or through events.
To the best of my knowledge there are three ways to gain Celibate:
1) joining a holy order (this requires abdicating so you can't do it to player characters)
2) joining the Dominican Order and reaching the second level of membership, then using the ”Take a Vow of Celibacy” decision in the intrigue menu (only works for Catholics)
3) in the ”The Wounds Within” event you can get after a battle where you lead troops, taking the ”I will never be close to anyone ever again” option.
The only way to gain Eunuch on characters you want to play is by taking the risky option when you ask your court physician for treatment. I have no idea why my doctor thinks cutting off my bollocks will cure my flu, but it's a quick and easy way to deal with gavelkind.

Chaste and celibate characters can marry, eunuchs can't. However, becoming a eunuch doesn't end your marriage or, weirdly enough, change your wife's opinion of you.

"i dont care about sex, i have work to do" (Alexander the Great, Basil II)
Alexander had multiple children from different woman... fact your checks...

Also i think i got some brain damage today. Rome total war remastered looks so much like I:R that i needed a couple of minutes to realise that it was an Rome total war and not an I:R trailer that i had watched.

Thank you. I meant celibate not chaste. I'm still irrationally annoyed about the sexual preferences of my digital nobles though.

All the norse were obsessed with their hair. They were routinely buried with combs.
Did not actually know that! Thanks!

Alexander fathered a grand total of two children in his short 32 year life, had an imperial harem that he rarely (if ever) visited and his contemporaries wrote that he didn't really seem all that interested in women and sex. Alcohol? Yes. Sex no.

The dude had pretty much no time to fuck anyone, he was carving one of the biggest empires in human history across the Middle East, all in his twenties. Two kids by 32 while doing that is pretty reasonable.

It doesn't matter anyways, because you can seduce people and have kids as an asexual player character in CK3 anyways. Maybe you'll have 4 kids instead of 6 because the checks are less often but you're not handicapped in any way except not being able to become soulmates with anyone.

In CK2 there is a trait that goes like "unavailable for marriage". You can still fuck them as lovers so I dunno.
