In CK2 there is a trait that goes like "unavailable for marriage". You can still fuck them as lovers so I dunno.
That's for event-spawned characters.

If you're using Jade Dragon and you smith an artefact, you won't be able to marry the goldsmith to anyone in your court or otherwise get him to stay within your realm.

"Iceland is Catholic, long live the Kvitkrist!"
"Iceland is rightfully pagan, Thor will conquer you!"

:thinking: Okay, you're both wrong...

I have absolutely no idea how or why I own Iceland, or why it is a vassal of the Despot of Lombardy, but the thought of walking across Iceland and finding a random Greek diner gave me a laugh.

Some highlights from a Haesteinn af Namsborg playthrough I did:

It's not my place to question your position as the spiritual leader of Nestorianism, Your Holiness, but surely the Order of St. Abraham has become a bit too ecumenical?

India and religious bordergore are natural bedfellows, especially if you introduce a bunch of Nestorian Vikings to the area:

India is also home to this lovely piece of bordergore;

At this point, it's honestly just easier for me to show you the map;
ck2_map_1.jpg

I'm the brown country in the south of India to the south of the big orange blob. That blob is ruled by the Pratihara dynasty which will hopefully explode soon.

The white blob in Europe is the Holy Roman Empire, which got formed by East Francia. If you're curious about Arabia, the Abbasids got royally ass-raped by a Shia rising (dark green) and the Hashimids (olive green).

Did not actually know that! Thanks!

Alexander fathered a grand total of two children in his short 32 year life, had an imperial harem that he rarely (if ever) visited and his contemporaries wrote that he didn't really seem all that interested in women and sex. Alcohol? Yes. Sex no.

I'm fairly certain that he was gay.

I get that bros for life emoted differently back in antiquity and were even overly emotional to each other in letters just 50 years ago but this is a bit much.

The only evidence that he was in an outright romantic relationship with Hephaestion is some people comparing him to Achilles and Patroclus and rather broad speculation that Macedonian royalty were expected to fuck dudes. Meanwhile he outright had kids with women and is described as falling in love with Roxana at first sight. If he did fuck dudes he was almost certainly either bi or "straight but fucking dudes in the ass is totally manly bro."

I don't mind the inclusion of asexuals in CK3, and it's actually nice that you can criminalize homosexuality and throw gays into your dungeon to rot. The fact that Harald Fairhair goes gay most of the time is annoying, yes, and it's worse that every discussion about that topic eventually gets memoryholed by Paradox moderators, but so far as gameplay is concerned, the only major issues are:
  1. rampant cuckery (which, by sheer coincidence, can only really be solved by making everyone gay)
  2. using the Deviant trait as a dumping ground for every other sexual minority (no furs, no feeders, no balloon enthusiasts, gays get special treatment I guess)
  3. assuming characters' genders, and not allowing players to assert their own unique gender identities (Paradox devs are basically guilty of genocide here)

the creator of one of the best CK3 mods, and one of the most popular mods, is apparently dead. :(

It's a shame there aren't better mods for CK3 yet, there was a content explosion at release but the workshop has become incredibly stale. I use a smorgasbord assortment of individual mods to try and gimp together a HIP like experience, but nothing has come close to that sadly.

with his passing the workshop will definitely be worse.

Known several people who play Paradox Interactive games and have been watching many more. Always wanted to dive in, but was afraid of the daunting size and time requirements. Well, I just noticed Stellaris has a massive discount on Steam, so I said "fuck it" and dived in. Wish me luck, lol.

Speaking of Stellaris, apparently PDX introduced a global pop limit to tackle the age-old 2.X problem of just having too many fucking pops.

It went about just as well as you'd expect.
