it's a easter egg about how the final game will be if it ever leaves whatever the hell it's stuck in.
I know what it is. I've been following this guy ever since he first started talking about making a game. I'm just stunned that after all the discussion, they made a brown 70s looking house with wood paneling all over the place when they could have chosen literally any other colors. Also, we've seen their build mode before and I think it's time to see some of how the paras interact.

Not sure if here or the Paradox thread is better, but the 'gameplay' trailer dropped abouta week ago.

Looks pretty lame desu senpai. Also the art style is all the worst parts of CalArts BS condensed on top of a sheboon for the trailer because gotta get dat ESG cash.
Environments look decent though. Might be worth a pirate if the mods are good.

With Paralives's Early Access about a month away, they posted another Build Trailer:

And they posted a preview of some of the Radio Music Stations, but they don't seem to standout, compared to The Sims's and even inZOI's soundtracks:

The System Requirements for Paralives has been revealed:

I'm actually really excited for this, even if it does seem kinda wokey. I'm just tired of being told I'm a horrible person bc I still play/prefer the sims 4 lol. The Sims players are never happy, especially nowadays.

I've been following the development of this since it was announced and I'm happy it's actually coming to fruition. It easily could've been like the thousands of life sims "Sims killers" that came and went. Lol

I immediately thought "damn I just posted that I was excited", can't have shit in Detroit </3

Speaking of the delay, I trolled around r/Paralives and a lot of patreon supporters are reporting they did a livestream showing off gameplay, and they said it was really lacking. Mostly that it seemed buggy and slow. I wish someone recorded and leaked it cuz now I'm curious to what extent it was.

It kinda makes sense because other people on r/Paralives said before they were curious as to why there's no live play footage yet.

It's kinda disappointing(?)* that they revealed it decently close to the deadline they set, but I guess it's better than having the release date come and go without saying anything. At least I didn't give them patreon money if things go fucky.

*I feel like saying disappointing is such a big statement. While I have followed it for years, I wasn't gutted. Mostly I was like Aww anyway… lol

It's available on Kemono Party.

Lacking is an understatement. I just cannot comprehend how they ever believed the game was in a suitable state to be released for 40$, even as an early access.

The game is completely unpolished, the host kept running into issues trying to show off features. The "pathfinding" they claimed was done doesn't include collision, so Paras just walk through counters and windows. That's when they don't get stuck into a wall.

The Paras also obviously clip with common household objects, which is the predictable result of achieving Build and Buy mode before even touching on Live Mode. They don't have transitory animations either, so they basically walk up to an object, clip into it and perform the animation, then teleport out of it. The animations in themselves lack detail and they used the old swipe animation trick everywhere they could.

Paras also don't walk off to work, unlike what was shown in the trailer, they just pop in and pop out of existence. No animation either for changing clothes, no particle effects anywhere when taking a shower or cooking...

They only tested out a single Para, not a family, and this was a mess already. The dude the host controlled just straight up ignored the queue at some point to go perform another action. He would never do anything autonomously aside from one push-up animation in the middle of the flower shop.

The other Paras are extremely passive, their only autonomous function as of now is to walk around, it seems. There are no employees in shops either.

If you read the comments on Patreon, there is no surprise at all and everyone was expecting the delay just from the livestream. I seriously doubt their play testers narrative, I believe they saw the negative reactions to the trailer and realized that even if Patreon bootlickers weren't having it, they were headed for a disaster by releasing it.

All of those issues that were shown also happened with The Sims 4, and some of those issues were never fixed even after a DECADE of the game being out.
  • Sims still clip through each other.
  • The AI for Sims prioritizes stupid shit like getting glasses of water.
  • They also overly depend on the generic swipe animation.
  • Sims still ignore what you queue them to do or the queue drops completely.
  • Sims go to work animation for non-active jobs by just disappear.
And EA even used the "Smarter Sims, Weirder Stories" tagline in TS4's original advertising, but those proved to be false VERY quickly once players were able to play the game.

Regarding Paralives, it's doubtful that 6 months of extra development time will fix those very significant issues.

I appreciate that it's stylized and not "realistic" like inzoi, but jesus fuck I hate the art direction. EVERYONE got egirl blush. Even fucking grandpa.

I assume it'll die under a lack of interactions. Like, we take for granted how much shit is clickable in Sims. There's no way you'll ever get more than 2-3 interactions per item, if any of them are even interesting.

The main gameplay weakness in my opinion is the Together Cards system. I've seen many people express their doubts about it but Alex Massé has shut down criticism saying this wasn't up for discussion.

You get to select between two or three random interactions cards every 20 in-game minutes, and that's how socializing works compared to the menu pie of the Sims. It seems like a good idea on paper, as it is a step away from the the dollhouse aspect of the Sims where you control everything, but how will storytelling work into that ? What if I decide my Sim is supposed to be angry at another, but when I click on the other Para, I just get positive cards about complimenting their hair ?

With Paralives's Early Access going live tomorrow, here's the Day 0 patch notes:

Paralives Update: Official Patch Notes For Day 0

Improvements

  • Interactable items can now be added to your inventory directly from the interaction menu in live mode. It was previously only possible in build mode.
  • All 5 restaurants in Melino now have meals for sale on their front counter. The ability to order food at your table will be added at a later time.
  • All collectibles like mushrooms, gems and artifacts now correctly have a sell value based on their rarity.
  • Rare mushrooms, rare gems and rare artifacts spawned too rarely so the odds have been increased slightly.
  • Accessibility menu: Players can now tone down the strength of the foliage animation (for trees, grass, flowers) to help reduce potential motion sickness.

Bug Fixes

  • Parafolks will no longer refuse to sleep on long chairs when too tired.
  • Fixed an issue where Parafolks would sometimes fail to properly perform these interactions: “First Kiss”, “Get intimate for the first time”, “Try for baby NOW”.
  • Fixed an issue where the Parafolks wouldn’t walk home when doing the “Go home” interaction on certain lots.
  • Fixed a bug where negative points were displayed in green instead of red in success chance breakdown tooltips.
  • Parafolks will no longer get stuck when attempting to walk out of the second floor of the Story Nook restaurant.
  • “Kick That Shiitake” Townie request: The mushrooms can now be kicked correctly.
  • “One Man’s Trash” Townie request: The trash can now be picked correctly.
  • “Clean the Beach” Townie request: The trash can now be picked correctly.
  • Fixed a bug where we couldn’t undo Eyebrow preset selection in the Paramaker.
  • Balanced the volume of some ambience and foley sounds.
  • Parafolks will now have their hygiene need increase when crying in the shower.
  • Fixed various missing localized texts throughout the game.
  • The train ticket in the Paramaker now displays the correct name for the town: “To: MELINO” instead of “To: PARALIVES”.
  • Fixed 2 work perks that gave $0 per day instead of the correct amount.
  • The description of some of the households in the train were displayed in English even when playing in other languages. This has been fixed.
  • Parafolks will no longer walk outside of their house after using the bathroom at home.
  • Rugs no longer block the path of Parafolks during astronomy town events.
  • Fixed a bug where repairing an item would charge the household 20 Paradimes more than once.

Paralives's Early Access is out now, is currently on sale at 10% off:

They also added some Among Us related content, but 6 years too late:

And of course the game has the same Chestfeeding options that The Sims 4 added:

No custom pronouns though, so no Sa/Ar or Iz/Zat for your Jeet Paras.

The very first character you have in the tutorial looks like a pooner. Maybe I've been on the farms too long but I see wispy body hairs and I think pooner.

It's just a matter of time until the custom pronouns. This game has a nice feel for the short amount of time I can play today, makes me nostalgic for Sims 1. However, since this is early access and the first day, it's buggy as shit. I went ahead and shelled out the cash for it since it's 10% off. It's not EA and it's not Korean and requiring me to have a supercomputer to run.
