Hypothetical situation: would Chris, in the impossible event he fathered a child that he was remotely even allowed to be near, actually know how to handle a baby? Because with all his love for the idea of having Crystal, I get the impression he believes she'll come out of the womb already able to write a novel-length diary and be everything he thinks she'll be (which may or may not include actually being a goddamn horse, going off of the CWCki entry...)

Chris would expect the baby to be like Stewie from Family Guy.

Re: concerns about whether or not Chris would be allowed near the baby: I don't think that DoCS would just up and take the child away by virtue of him being autistic or a 'tomgirl', which is more or less all they'd know about him.

But with the vast number of reports flowing in from weens, his situation would more than likely be investigated. If that happened, who knows.

As for whether or not he could handle having a child: probably not. Maybe with the mother's help and if some hidden paternal instinct kicked in.

Seriously though, Barb was a piss-poor parent and thought that the best way to raise an autistic child was to leave him with a sitter while her and Bob went out to booze it up.

As for paternal instinct kicking in, I'd imagine it'd go something like this:

Oh I meant the kid's mother, not Barb, if that's what you were laughing at haha. Though I can't imagine anyone who'd willingly bear Crystal Weston Chandler would be all that stable either...
At any rate, I wouldn't let Barb within 100 feet of a child.

Oh bless her heart! Didn't the silly goose know that raising an autistic child will involve intense involvement, by reading to it, playing turn taking games, and trying to socialize it with other children and people as best one can?

I don't think she thought leaving Chris with a baby sitter was the best, but I don't think she cared either. She never wanted a child to begin with. Why should she have to care for the stupid retard baby, when she could be singing 50's karaoke and downing whiskey shots at the local dive bar?

EDIT: Speaking of the 50s (when Barb was a teenager) I think she was sort of like Sandy's trampy girlfriends in Grease, (Rizzo especially, I think is what a young Barb would look like and behave like)

Maybe Barb just assumed that Chris's autism would be fine and he would become successful on his own like the rest of his half siblings who had zero contact with her

If Chris had a child with an autistic woman they could absolutely have their kids removed from them just for being autistic. It's quite common for disabled parents to have their kids taken away, regardless if they're competent to raise children or not. Not just mental disabilities either, but physical ones as well. If someone thought Crystal or Reginald weren't possibly receiving the best care possible they'd be in foster care in a flash.

Just like the rest of his half siblings who had zero contact with her. Huh, I think I'm seeing a pattern here.

Fortunately, I think in Chris' case, they'd be entirely justified in taking his kids away. Especially if he managed to conceive a kid with another "slow in da mind." I... just don't think he could take care of himself, let alone another human being. The poor kid would either choke on Legos or wind up buried alive in a pile of Barb's hoard. Or Chris would just forget about him while he played vidya.

Chris probably wouldn't even let his child touch his Legos and the pretend characters based on Chris's Child in all his Nintendo games would receive more affection and care. If Chris had a son would he even care for it or would he yell at god because God promised him a daughter named Crystal.

Well, no, evidently she thought if nothing else that Chris should read to her. Hence all that stuff at the store where she wanted him to read the names of plastic robot toys to get him to talk.

I don't think she thought leaving Chris with a baby sitter was the best, but I don't think she cared either. She never wanted a child to begin with. Why should she have to care for the stupid exceptional individual baby, when she could be singing 50's karaoke and downing whiskey shots at the local dive bar?

This does go with how Chris did claim to be an "unplanned miracle" or something, when obviously Barb's behavior would mean Chris came by accident after one to many booze bottles back in the 80s.

If Chris had a son would he even care for it or would he yell at god because God promised him a daughter named Crystal.

By that point, I think he'd insist on the kid being named Crystal regardless. Kind of like a "Boy named Sue" situation, except unlike the dad in the song, Chris had no intention of making sure his progeny grew up though and mean.

My mistake! Over here, child services are a bit on the lazy side and tend not to give a piss until someone reports something.
Case in point, I know an awful mother and she's never been checked out because nobody has her address and DoCS don't care to find her.

Even so, as I speculated, I think the amount of ween reports would have Crystal/Reginald ripped from his care no matter what country he lived in.

Weens would probably just keep reporting Chris to the DoCS repeatedly regardless of whoever the mother is. But they would also keep trying to break up Chris's relationship with the mother having failed to prevent the coupling from happening in the first place. Either way Chris couldn't have children in his custody for very long.
