He doesn't disagree from any kind of earnest standpoint, and doesn't know the meaning of "engaging in good faith". He's an autist with a persecution complex who goes contrarian to own the stinky fascists.
That said, don't ban him. I like watching people call him a retard.
If all of his responses are just basic bitch Democrat talking points then it should be perfectly easy to rebut anything that he says. He says stuff that I blatantly disagree with or that I know for a fact has been completely torn apart, but I don't see any point in trying to engage with it because I'm not going to change his mind and he's not going to change mine. All the pieces are on the board and all the teams have been chosen.
That being said, he's not that different from the majority of people in A&H. A&H has plenty of people who are overtly way off to the right, flying a legitimate Nazi banner and advocating for the acceleration of a race-war, but that's not the average person in A&H. I don't like what they have to say either and I don't agree with much of any of it, but I'm not about to jump in and tell them they can't say it unless it's a situation where that discussion doesn't belong in the thread, or if it's gotten so out-of-hand that it's drowning out every other topic. Even then, I do everything I can to just relocate the posts, rather than deleting them.
The bulk of A&H users are moderates; some slightly to the left, some slightly to the right, and Hollywood falls a little to the left side of the field, but really not all that far. The basic principles behind his politics are
not that different from everyone else's, he just expresses them differently. He doesn't like big corporations controlling the bulk of America, he doesn't like self-serving politicians that bilk the country for money, he wasn't in favour of the riots or that BLM mutating into a "Kill Whitey" carnival was a good thing, he doesn't think that America should be the World Police, he doesn't think we should be constantly fighting other people's wars in the Middle East, and he's very clearly not interested in shit like HAES.
This does not put him that far away from most
anyone in A&H.
I'm actually very surprised that he doesn't like Donald Trump. Most of his policies and positions and actions should have put him right on the path to supporting his Presidency, but he decided--for whatever his reasons are--that he didn't want to do that.
Fair enough. He and I could sit around kicking and screaming and spitting and linking article after study after leaked document and that needle wouldn't move. Likewise, convincing him to actually vote for Donald Trump is now effectively impossible, because everyone associated with Trump has constantly treated him like a dick, completely poisoning that well. As a result, Hulk Hogan is going to vote for Biden and that's the end of that story.
The thing that genuinely differentiates him from the other users is that he's
very confrontational in the way that he argues, but I've spent three months now moving arguments into the Pastadome, and there's a pattern: The first message that gets trimmed out when I move arguments into this thread are not typically Hollywood's. The general flow is:
- Someone tags Hollywood, usually aggressively. If it's not, his next message reflects that.
- Hollywood responds. If the original user was aggressive, his response is immediately aggressive. If it's not, he's largely on-topic.
- The conversation will stay on-topic until someone deviates from the topic completely and starts replying to Hollywood purely with invective.
- All of Hollywood's responses from here-on will be off-topic and invective.
- Everything is yeeted to the Pastadome.
It's very uncommon that he's the person who starts the derailment. He's not the origin, he's just the catalyst, and I don't think it's fair to punish someone because their presence causes
other people to lose their heads. One of my overarching "goals" for the Pastadome was to remove the ability to "hide" angry outbursts. Users will fly at each other all the time, and then a moderator will step in, sweep everything under the rug, and send people back to their corners. All the evidence of the spat is mopped away and there's no repercussions in the long-term if no one was banned as a result. Essentially, it winds up never having happened.
The Pastadome removes this for A&H if I'm the one who responds to the ticket, because
I don't give a shit if people want to fight each other. Go at it, rage-type on your keyboard for 500+ pages and make absolute speds of yourself, it makes no difference to me. I'm going to make you own every word of it, though. I'm going to archive it, preserve it, and prevent it from being deleted or removed from the public eye. I'm not going to mop up your mess, I'm just going to keep piling it in this warehouse as a testament to your inability to calm down. I'm going to
make you stay in the same room as the person you hate until one of you leaves, one of you breaks the rules and gets
big-dicked by another moderator because I didn't catch it in time, or you finally learn to get along.
It is completely possible to have a normal, civil debate with Hollywood about politics. How many people have actually
tried?
