Path of Exile

It's my understanding that POE2 was originally planned to integrate with the first game, in-client. I.e. all the new acts and stuff would be part of one mega campaign. Evidently this was way too much work for the development team.
A shame. That would have been super rad, since I already have some pretty decked out stuff from my earlier time in POE1.

The Act 3 final boss is kicking my shit in.
I’ve rebuilt my skills and supports so damage isn’t an issue now, but once I’m in the second half of phase 2 I’m getting one shot.
Nulls comments on PoE2 being a dark souls game ring more true for me now.

The trick is to stick close to him. Means his sweep attacks are easier to deal with by dodging forward, and you can keep a better eye on his two orbital cannons.

Fuck guides, what’s the point in playing, you can always respec if you get completely stuck.
I remember getting stuck in campaign on like level 50 when I first played back in 2015. The reason? I just equipped all uniques I found because I thought they were better than rare and magic items, lol. Good times.
I used my 300 points to buy some premium, gem, currency and essence stash tabs, cosmetics are a trap reserved for the lost.
You'll need to buy a map (waystone) tab as well in the future for smooth endgame gameplay.
mercenary in 1 would be fun
Without WASD movement? Hell no.
So many crashes... :(
Try switching to Vulcan.
"You hit these goal posts so you'll get these dogshit cosmetics. Have fun restarting! It's what you like after all, right? New season! :) "
You can play Standard if you care about your 10 stash tabs of 1c/ex items if you really want to though. But nobody plays it, and for a good reason. If a new player wanted to buy a simple +2 quiver, he'd need to pay like 50 divs because of the inflation after a few years.
1st maps are giant, theres like 10 bosses that you have to kill on each map and 1st one took me about 40 minutes to complete
They are, but if it took you 40 minutes to clear a t1 map, you should really upgrade your build with damage in mind lol

He is pretty easy once you learn his attacks. Also, he is a bit of a gear check. Just stand directly behind him, you're probably getting one shot by his laser attack or by the floating attack (just run, don't roll, don't attack, and you'll dodge it). Contrary to souls games, this game is actually fun.

Most bosses are ironically much easier when being close to them, as you can just do circles around them lol. The often have some sort of cone frontal attack that has a slight delay, so you can just stand in front of them and then do a well-timed dodge roll behind them.

For now, I've sinked in 170 hours into PoE 2. Feeling a bit burned out. Might roll a monk though before the next big content update comes. They need to make the levelling faster on levels 90-100. Most players will never reach 100, and while you should be able to complete your build in the 80s (level wise, ofc) and the game is designed around it just like PoE 1, this is still too much exp required past lvl 95.

I realised that i picked a fucked waystone for my first one so i made it way harder for myself
Now it takes like 20 to 30 minutes depending on luck

I don't find the Vaal particularly interesting, but I do hope later acts go as similarly nuts as Act 3 did. Being able to say "orbital cannon" entirely accurately is a wonderful feeling.

Still a bit long tbh. I assume you have movement speed on your boots? That's the only thing besides low damage I can think of that causes this.

I hope they have the balls to make one of the druid ascendancies a mecha-druid that turns into something like Doryani in the second phase. With a focus on chaos damage maybe since not many builds can build around it. Won't happen but it's fun to dream.

Thanks for the pointers @Pumpkin Girl IRL and @Endlosung, the lasers and drop attack were the issue. I managed to clear the fight after a couple more attempts.
Act 1 Cruel is a breeze with my current build, but I’m still using a (very good) level 26 bow so will hit another wall soon.

I always play as a ranger. My character was deleted or something - I hadn't played in years and it was gone when I logged in earlier this year. Got a bit sick of replaying everything again, but it gave me an opportunity to rehash my skill forest. :P

Anyone thinking of buying PoE2?

PoE2 is fun, I keep losing track of time and then the nights gone. The campaign is good but only half of its out, with endgame tacked on.
The consensus seems to be that current endgame is more place holder and will have a big overhaul for the full release.

Tapping into the first one and it's apparently a city builder now.

I've skipped over way too many updates.

Will wait for the final release then. Did you change character types for PoE2?

PoE2 is the first ARPG I’ve played, and my opinion and thoughts are noob.
I’m playing a Ranger, they seemed like a pretty basic, fun and tactical class at a glance, I’m happy with my choice at level 56.

I just finished a respec.
I noticed some nodes that give a lot of dex and some others close by that could give more dps overall.
25-30% increase to DPS was gained, I have heaps more strength and intelligence, evasion is even better and I’m closer to more good shit. Success!

Switched from Firewall to Fireball and combat is not a total visual clusterfuck. Doesn't feel as if my damage has been effected either - bulk of it comes from the raging spirits anyway. My fireballs are just there to ignite enemies and spawn skulls, anyway.

Really wish Raging Spirits weren't strictly a fire thing though. Thematically, fire and undead feels...weird.

Ooh, boots with 20% movement speed. No longer capped on resistances due to them, but such a huge quality of life change. Not quite as mental as my maxed out Zoomies necromancer in D4, but can't have everything.

Fingers crossed these campaign maps get trimmed down for the full release. They make the original version of Merveil's cave look swift.
