Pathologic 2: Open World First Person Doctoring - Guaranteed to confuse the shit out of you, or your money back.

Is Pathologic 2 available in any physical format be it for PC and Consoles?

Nope, digital only. They barely have enough money to make and send out the physical Kickstarter backer rewards, so a disk release would be an unnecessary expense, I guess. I'd love to buy a pretty box for PC from them, though.

Dybowski even said, that they can't produce backers rewards(even tho they have prototypes) because they wait for winter revenue from tinybuild.

And they had store with physical goods like posters and tragic dolls, but they closed it this year. I hope they'll open it again.

ALSO there is tabletop pathologic
I have no idea how non-russian peeps can buy it, tho.

Thanks to Mandalore Pathologic's sales got better. I really hope Ice-Pick Lodge will make two other stories, at the same time the Marble nest doesn't look like real Dankovsky's episode.

Devs also had a shop where they were selling their board game and some merch. Too bad Russia and it's fucked up taxes and laws forced their shop to close. But you can read about the board game here: http://tabletop.pathologic-game.com/en/

Game's director had an interview few days ago where he said that game sales were bad and they can't finish two other characters in near future. They want to develop mobile games to make some profit and maybe after that we can play as Dankovsky. Kinda gives hope, since knock-knock was their biggest finantial success. Also they want to make other 2 parts in different game genres.
here's the actual interview if you've got some time to kill. almost everyone from the dev team shows up at some point, not just nikolay

too tired to summarize the whole fucking thing in one go and it's not especially surprising if you've been actively following the studio for the last few years, but basically they've worked their asses off on this game for half a decade and it went through intermittent periods of development hell. the 2015 russian financial crisis snuck up on them and if it wasn't for tinybuild i seriously doubt they would've been able to release the game on their own (doesn't help that tinybuild's done a shit job at marketing but that's what youtubers like ragnar and mandalore are for)

the ice-pick store shut down a while back because it was simply too unprofitable for them to run, also the marble nest isn't a "replacement" for the bachelor's route, it's the separate pre-alpha demo with its own narrative that they released back in 2016. they've been reworking it and it'll be free to download if you've already bought the goddamn game. nikolay's said once or twice before that he expects the two remaining routes to be released as different genres but i seriously think he's just jaded over how badly the game did initially, he's been hyperfocused on survival games for almost 20 years.

sucks that game journos are too busy sucking each other's dicks to actually recognize genuinely masterful (yet flawed) art when they see it but that's just how it fucking is apparently

Pathologic 2 was a kind of remake, right? Maybe I should pick it up when I got the money.

it's functionally a remake and yet it's a completely different game at the same time - it follows the same general plot premise and it plays somewhat similarly to the original game but it addresses a lot of new ideas entirely. i'd generally just call it a reimagining but i'm still not sure if that's entirely accurate

I would say it's re-imagining. Plot and main idea\gameplay are the same. The way it's introduced to player is different, devs expanded steppe lore and haruspex storyline is richer then it was in first one. Some new game rules are added, like the one about death punishment.

RagnarRox has made a video essay on Pathologic. Haven't watched it myself yet (damn thing is just shy of an hour), but RR's stuff is usually pretty quality.

And Grimbeard published a review a few weeks ago. He has a smaller audience and he's got some spooky boi tendencies which can be grating for some, but his reviews are pretty decent.

Any case, this game needs more love. Microsoft was saying earlier in the year that Pathologic 2 is supposed to be coming to the Hex Bawx Uno. I'll probably buy an extra copy if only out of support.

They are working on XBox port in the same time with work on marble nest. No estemated release date yet, and no news about PS4 port too.

Fuck, just noticed I got ninja'd. Anyway, both russian and non-russian people have little to no chance to get it. The game was produced in a small amount, even russians have problems finding it, as I heard. Maybe some of the backers will sell it, but I'm not sure their version is going to be the English one, tho.

Game was distributed in board-game shops in 9 towns. You can still buy it in Moskow and Simferopol for 2690 rubles. Damn, now i want to grab one for myself since it's going to be a rare thing.

Hm interesting, I should've checked better. The Moscow shops have the second edition (Cardplace indeed has it for 2690 rubles and Edinorog has it for 2790) and Simferopol's has the third edition, but it's for 2990 rubles. I have a feeling the price is going to rise, already saw it for, like, 3k.

Funny, I looked on the other sites of smaller cities and seems like more than 9, at least, had this game. Well, that's good to know, but I'm getting autistic.

I am so fucking glad I got the tabletop game as a pre-order. It's actually a pretty good game, just never let the asshole friend who cheats play as the Plague.

Oh, guys, i didn't want to necro this thread, but i beg you to give a chance to this game.
Check Mandy's review
Also they added difficulty settings, so if you are game jurnos, you can play this game now.
And i recommend to turn on russian voiceovers and english subs, if you are not russian. Voice acting in english is good, but in russian it is perfect. Devs invited professional theater actors to voice the lines, and it's sooo good.
If you don't speak Russian it's mostly going to be wasted quality though. No way I'd be able to pick up the nuances that separate great acting from merely good.

I tried it and the subtitles are useless. Like when you talk to an NPC the text will say one thing but the VO says another and you get no subtitles for the VO.

It's basically like Resident Evil Remakes 1 and 2.

Come to think of it more and more often studios are hiring theater actors for voice overs. I guess the VA guild's days may be numbered since the theater people are cheaper and higher quality.

In russia many of voiceover actors usually also work as movie and theatre actors. Tho, i don't think it was cheap for studio, since they hired many honored actors of Russia for this game.
