Well that's a shame.

The city deserved to lose the case. The idea that the government can invade someone's home with impunity based on anonymous swatting calls, despite having ample exculpatory context, is asinine and renders the 4th Amendment almost moot. If that's the case, pretty much anyone can use the government's monopoly on violence as their own tool against someone else. Don't like someone? Keep calling in anonymous information against them at 2am. Or the government can simply make up a reason to go after someone and say that it was based on some tip. Contrary to the belief of some posts I've seen here, the police are not obligated to respond to all calls or treat them as real until proven otherwise (legally, anyway).
