The SFWA would be a lot easier to make cough up the money since they're a 501c3 organization but odds are good they're just going to back away from this and leave this fat child on the hook. A lot of states have limitations as to what sort of shit courts can do to individuals to make pay up like for instance in some states, the courts can't seize the primary home and vehicle. Pat doesn't have a job since no one buys his books so his non-existant wages can't be garnished either. So Patrick has already vowed never to pay but now that IT IS SO ORDERED what happens next I wonder? Quasi could turn the screws and pursue it in Wisconsin court, but he would just rack up more costs for himself. He could also just let it go knowing that the ruling was a massive narc wound to Patrick's ego. But his lawyer will still want that $23,739.25 right down to that fucking quarter, so that doesn't seem likely. And least likely of all, but you never know, is that Fatrick and the SFWA actually pay up.
Others have speculated that Patty is going to refile for next year but just skip going after Quasi and go right for the John Does. He really thought Quasi was like fucking Dracula and knew who all the other vampires were.
But Pat's still kinda fucked since a 24K judgement will fuck his credit score harder than his wife fuck his anus. I mean I think he already has shit credit given his lack of income and shitty lifestyle but it just got even worse since 24K is a lot of donuts, overpriced whiskey at Hooligans, and greasy hotdogs at Brewers games. It'll hang over his head the rest of his life until he gets that last heart attack.
Most of the SFWA consists of authors on the success level of Pat. Their books simply don't sell and instead of honing their craft as writers or promoting their books they spend most of their day on Twitter circle-jerking their way to get deeper into the SFWA clique via politisperging and simping.Depends on how much they put into it and if they have a maximum of what you can borrow from it. The old Comics Code Authority funds were never that much and were limited on how much you could use from it. Both organizations are set up very similarly. With only 1300 members you're not going to bring in a lot of money every year and still hope to pay off everything. That's why they beg for money for the legal funds separately.
