No French politican or clergyman with a functioning brain is going to approve radical redesigns to Notre Dame with how iconic it is and how attached to their national symbols baguettes are, all those proposals thrown around are mostly just architects and designers trying to gain some publicity by proposing bullshit that nobody would approve but that will generate lots of attention.

Gothic buildings are also a recurring target for these idle dreamers, here's another of its ilk. While I don't think Paul is aware of this, even if he were, I cannot blame him for feigning ignorance as the type of person who responds to muh tradishnal Evropa videos isn't the brightest.

Gothic architecture was reviled in its time by people like Paul, and considered a classic style now. I mean that's why they called it "Gothic", the Goths were considered a brutish barbarian and unintelligent people, and it was applied to building designs that weren't even created by them as a way to insult the building.
