I recently built an i5 6600k Z170 machine and have a GTX 1070 in it. Let's discuss what you're running and your FireStrike results from 3D Mark.

Hardware (55c temps right after benchmark and stress test, GPU idles around 34c):

While I'm too lazy to use Fire Strike, I will share what specs I have.

Apparently Speccy reports the 1070 as a 4GB card and that's... just a thing it does. GPU-Z shows the right amount.

That being said, I'm sort of concerned about the card's default fan profile because the fans literally don't spin until it hits about 60C or higher.

I'm planning to build a Skylake computer in a few months. Is Black Friday a good time to go shopping for parts?

Wait for Cyber Monday. I saved almost $300 off my build by waiting and buying parts I could use later like a board, CPU, memory and SSD.

There was this time they were giving away old computers at work so they could dodge the disposal fees, so I got a few of them, put the ram together, and ended up with a free XP tower that can play videos of chinese girl cartoons and seed their torrents.

Might as well, here's the computer that's still holding up years later even as it ages. Running hot because it's aircooled and the room itself is gross and hot, no A/C and it's August. GPU always idles hot though because it's running triples. Motherboard and CPU are ancient at this point but still deal well, while the GPU is a few years out of date. Of course it still runs new games fine, just not on highest settings. Grabbing 16GB ram though pretty soon.

CPU isn't that bad, can easily be overclocked with the right cooler and power supply. I'd recommend a GTX 970.

I'm not spending money just so I can crank the AA a bit higher at the moment. Smoother edges aren't worth $300 to me. I just need to get the RAM and a SSD for loading times and open world games streaming issues.

Plus that motherboard is a micro, so if I'm upgrading, it needs to go right out on a total rebuild.
