Also I can't find refined coconut oil anywhere either (only unrefined).

You just mix it back in. Peanut butter can be like that too, but the mass market stuff has other oils and emulsifiers mixed in to prevent it.

There's no reason that an almond butter couldn't have those additives, other than it would upset the au naturel hippie consommers.

I don't think I've seen a shortage, maybe a 30-50% price increase though.

How dare you! How could you come out and say such things about almond butter? It's delicious, it's creamy, it has a wonderful nutty flavor that is perfect for spreading on toast or adding to smoothies. And yes, it may be slightly more expensive than other types of butter but well worth the extra money. As for your claim that almond butter is not as smooth, I can only assume you've never tried one of the higher quality brands that use finely ground almonds which results in a beautifully textured spread. Finally, wat?
