I'm from Lancaster, PA. Food there is slightly different elsewhere. Like with Chicken Pot Pie and Chicken & Waffles. I honestly don't know why PA's style of Chicken & Waffles isn't the norm, I mean who the hell puts syrup on fried chicken? That's as bad as peanut butter chicken.

There are holy grails that originated in PA, such as Sweet Bologna and Stuffer's Whales crackers. But what stuff do you like? And what stuff do you not like?
(inb4 someone mentions Philly Cheesesteak)

There's literally nothing wrong with putting syrup on fried chicken, provided it's paired with waffles (I mean yeah, maybe you wouldn't want to by default)

There absolutely is. Sugar is for baking, if you're cooking with it I know you're actually three children wearing a trench coat and wasting ingredients.

Whoopie pies (eat my ass Maine natives), scrapple, stromboli, and shoofly pie are some good PA delicacies. I do want to try city chicken one of these days.

I unironically enjoy primanti's sandwiches and throwing vinegar slaw/kraut on things that probably do not need it

I'm familiar with Central PA since I used to drive through the area frequently for one of my old jobs. I really liked Wawa and Sheetz: are they still a thing? I haven't been anywhere near York or Lancaster in several years, so it's been a while.

Wawa is less common in Lancaster, you'll see Sheetz and Turkey Hill. But right now I'm living in Baltimore, Maryland- and Wawa is insanely popular.

Ah, I remember Turkey Hill iced tea. I used to get it in PA, but every now and then I'll see it at CVS and Walgreen's in my state. When I used to travel for work I'd love going to Sheetz late at night for their hot dogs and french fries, and Wawa had some good hoagies.

Lancaster? Go to el Serrano if you have the money. It is good.

My recommendations for "PA" food are probably pretty typical. Boyer candies. raw milk, farmers market veggies (so many varieties), Ci Ci Peppers subs from State College, funnel cakes, ham and cabbage, etc.

And yes, Wawa and Sheetz (and Rutters) are still going strong.

Philly fag checking in.

So get ready for my hot take, Cheese steaks are amazing, don't get me wrong. Italian Roast pork sandwiches should be the real sandwich of the city (roast pork, garlic sauteed broccoli rabe and prov.) Local place makes a cheese steak like this and its AMAZIBALLS.

Best cheese steak is Jims on 4th and South in philly.

I like my PA dutch shit (german for those who aren't PA fags it's...a long story) apple tarts in fresh cream is the bomb.

Wawa is still a thing but not as good as it was imho it got me through undergrad to a post grad lol, coffee is still baller. Sheetz isn't in east PA and Royal Farms is just starting here, fried chicken is ehhh.

Again back to the not as good as it was, Yuengling. Also got me through many years of college :P

Nigga I'm from east PA and there's at least 3 within 15 minutes of me.
I just googled, the most eastern one is in Bethlehem PA. (bethlam) to those not in the know. I stand corrected. Apparently there's one in Reading ? I have family there and was there 2 months ago, didn't see one.

I feel my wawa turf encroached on.

Birch beer soda. There’s a cheesesteak place near me that sells it. Pair it with vanilla ice cream for a birch beer float. So good.

I’ve never eaten a Tasty Kake I didn’t like.

I haven’t had a Fastnacht in years. They’re donuts using mashed potatoes or potato flakes.

Bullshit. Waffles Inc in Beaver makes a mean chicken and waffles. Nola on the Square made a great chicken and waffles as well. And any fried chicken joint in Sliberty (or the Rocks) is SURE to have it. Even though they've been gentrified to hell and back. (Thanks, Google. For turning an affordable neighborhood into a place where the apartments are thrice the price of Shadyside.)

Anyhoo, funnel cakes are PA born and raised. And I miss Jelly and Butterscotch Krimpets. Had an old man from out east bring me a pound of scrapple last time he visited home. I miss scrapple the most.

E- Well, that's a major TMI from me. I cant help it when it's food, though.
