It depends on how far you’re willing to commit.
Widows and widowers of military personeñl get benefits from SSI. Blind people get benefits. There’s social security for those under 65 and there’s SNAP and WIC and some private discounts to snag through that. If you’re that poor you can go to food banks and clothes banks also.
If that sounds appealing, perhaps there is a back page ad somewhere for destitute veterans with chronic health problems. A lid for every pot, as they say.
Serious advice: marrying a long term partner has many financial benefits. Raising the amount you can make in a year while still being eligible is one of them. It would be useful if your SO is a college student or otherwise not earning income on the books.
I thought this was like the old school boomer sort of pension-maxxing. Like some places have it so your pension is based on the five year period you made the most money, so people would work their ass off for five years with lots of extra overtime and then they'd sit back and do fuck all the rest of their career and pocket big bucks when they retired.
