Jelly just didn't understand the doctor was being racist to her to try and make her feel more comfortable with some familiar surroundings.

She's an ethnically Han chinese girl living in Malaysia. She's an only child from an upper-class family, probably big business owners themselves. Her parents have enough money to pay for her home, incredibly expensive medical care when she was a child and had heart issues, and also pay for her private education at a British school or whatever. Her name is Rachel (even though she's chinese), probably because in Malaysia rich people give their kids anglo names to distinguish them from the poors. She's smart enough to have an IT degree and produce music at a professional level.

If anything, her worldview makes a lot of sense.

This part is bigger than you would think at first glance.

Malaysia is in terms of demographics the Balkans of Asia.

The most populous race in the country are Austronesians, who themselves are divided between the Sunni Malay majority and various other Austronesian groups in Sarawak and Northeast Borneo (most of whom are Protestant Christians).
There exist a degree of animosity between the Malay and the other ethnic groups since the Malay have over the past few decades have on occassion used their polticial monopoly to screw over the other races to such a point where the reason why Singapore was kicked out of the country was because they didn't want it's population cheapening Malay votes with it's overwealmingly non Malay population.

After them you have the "Indians", which is to actually say the Dravidians (Far darker skinned Indians who live in the South).
They are divided into subgroups such as the Tamil but are largely unified under Hinduism despite having a sizable Christian and Muslim minority.

Next up in the center of the Malay peninsula you have the "native" Austroasiatics who lived there before the Austronesians but haven't done much besides chuck spears and pray to rocks. They ultimately are nothing more than the aboriginals of the country and are little more than a interesting footnote with little political weight.

Lastly you have the Han Chinese...
Like the Indians even though they are loosely unified under a collective identity (and unlike in the past now mostly speak Mandarin) they are divided into their own ethnic groups such as the Hakka or Cantonese... And if you want to know just how well they get along just look up the history of the Hakka, they are practically human punching bags that get slaughtered every few decades by everyone around them for shits and giggles.

The local Chinese population has a lot of enemies out of a mixture of the ethnic tribalism of their neighbors, fear of communism, religious differences (almost all are Buddhist, though 1 in 10 are Christian) and most importantly because they immigrated primarily to the economically important Straits Settlements during British rule they are disproportionately successful compared to the other ethnic groups and jealousy breeds contempt (despite being just 23% of the population they make up over 50% of the top income bracket).

I'm kinda fuming, agedly, that she doesn't know that around 1980 it was normal for popular music to be weird-sounding, and that Yellow Magic Orchestra were somewhat behind the times for their genre (Kraftwerk's Radio-Activity and Trans-Europe Express were definitive, older, and much stranger).

I now understand the nerd urge to "backseat."

Would it be better to hire Asians or Whites? Whites who are interested in vtubing are probably substantially more likely to have autism, whereas Asians are more likely to be interested in vtubing by default, but I think they tend to have higher than average autism rates.

I get the feeling going the White route would be better for some quality autism (ex.- Pippa).
