I'm curious as to what pallets people like. On a major fountain pen forum, users have an average 5 colors they like. So I'm asking you people who like colors to pick 5 colors from this list (and let's see how well I can get this thing on here)

- these are transparent colors. Think of mixing/overlaying them. What colors are the most useful?
- red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, cyan, magenta, and black are all prime colors in this list (not mixes)
-- that is to say these swatches try to represent real media colors, made of chemicals that are just colored however they are.
- imagine the red here is magenta-ish and kind of glows, especially when overlaying another color. Imagine also that the orange is dull unless it meets yellow, and then becomes brilliant. Also imagine that the magenta has a blue burn to it.

Honestly, pretty much black, black, black, black, and black. It's perfect for school, perfect for work, and is generally accepted as the best color for signing important documents (although some people may think blue is, but those people are stealing the limelight from black ink). There's a reason we have black albums and black tie affairs. Then there's black ops and the Black Hawks and the little black dress. Black is Johnny Cash walking the line. Black is funerals and black is groomsmen at a wedding.

Black is the go-to color for everything.

Black is a boring color

Don't get me wrong I use it, but it's a dull color that everyone uses. Whenever I go out I try and restrict my wardrobe so I only wear 1 black thing at any one time.

Personally I like teal, red and green. Those are my favorite colors.

I pretty much wear black all the time because I spill everything in the universe. But I've also gotten really bored with it because there's just so much of it.

I'm pretty sure that blue doesn't scan properly. I seem to remember that when I was in school and doing exams, they told us never to use blue ink because they have to scan the papers and blue ink doesn't show up as well. Since they scan important documents, I would think the same rationale applies.

I'm pretty sure that blue doesn't scan properly. The justification that I heard for it was so that you could tell which documents were the originals.

Of the ones you posted... Black 1, Blue 1, Cyan 1, Green 1, Violet 1.

As far as pens, I usually fill mine with black Quink but I also have a couple Private Reserve colors I like, DC Supershow Blue (a limited edition I think?) and Chocolat. Sometimes I put a bit of the Quink in the DCSSB for a velvety blue-black.

^ just been either using a cyan+magenta blue in a Noodler's or Hero pen for general writing (which I haven't been doing nearly enough of), and Noodler's Heart of Darkness in a Pilot 78G or Lamy Safari B for inking. I got a bazillion water ink colors that I was meaning to put in water markers, but I've only been using alcohol markers for ages.

the sky at night here is generally some kind of strange reddish-gray color

I like pinks, so I chose all the magentas! Of course, I always have a blue or black ink pen handy for paperwork and school assignments. I use purple, pink, and light blue inks for class notes
