Piece of shit software - Crappy software/apps/programs that make you MATI

I’d recommend against relying on Windows Defender. It is literally the first hurdle malware has to jump over.

I personally use a strong adblocker (Ublock) and Norton. You can tut-tut it all you want, and I’m sure antiviruses do cause some problems, but I’ve never suffered from them. Works on my machine, and has blocked some nasty things on more than one occasion.

Norton just acquired Avast this August, so I'd just drop it at this point.

Speaking of Norton, fuck Norton AV and its rootkit software. My parents bought a computer with it preinstalled and it was near-impossible to remove. It had one of the most aggressive "Your free trial has ended, buy now." pop-ups I've ever seen, and had tray notifications on top of its timed window pop-ups. Goddamn rogueware is less pushy and intrusive.
So thats why they started sending me spammy listicle type emails.

I wish they wouldn't have different keyboard and mouse shortcuts for Illustrator and Photoshop. That makes no sense. It is common to work in both simultaneously, and that always drives me mad when swapping toandfro.
I just looked and couldn't find it but I swear I remember there being an "Illustrator" preset for shortcuts in Photoshop.

Their product, Symantec Endpoint Protection is good.

Ah, that explains a lot of things. I would like to replace Avast for something better, but I don't know much about anti-viruses.
I would go with what https://www.av-test.org/en/ has to say. They have been the industry standard for testing AV/SEP for many years now.

Stumbling to the P4G page of steam made me remember anti DRMs like Securom which can fuck up your computer . Was considering buying it since I loved p3 and played it on a PS2 back in the day, but then,,

Oh, well, time to buy some boomer shooters instead!

And look at these threads:

There are fucktards there giving that boot a sloppy blowjob. Either that, or these are paid shills. Imagine vouching for a shitty software that takes space in your drive, unwanted and has been known to slow down games to a crawl. This makes me wish that KF ratings are universal on the web, because some people on those threads are surely deserving of trashcans and some puzzle pieces.

There's a program I use for inventory management called Dear, and it pisses me off more than anything else I've used. Everything goes great until something backorders or if I need to build something in the system. You have to do nesting builds for literally everything. A 3 minute task ends up taking 15 because of this shit.

100 percent paid shills. They pop up almost instantly when you're critical of a product or a brand, and they will attack your opinion like you just insulted their dead grandma. Just look at Reddit.

From how frequently I've seen it, I can't even say I buy the "paid shills" idea 100% of the time. I can believe there are some people lifeless enough to Do it For Free™ though I can also believe a lot of them do it in the hope of getting paid for their shilling eventually.

ProtonVPN for Linux still sucks ass. The GUI has no settings and can't do split tunneling while the Windows version has all that AND Wireguard support. Even the Linux CLI doesn't have the same options as the Windows version. I'm playing around with TMobile's 5G Home Gateway and for some fucking reason, ProtonVPN on Linux over that, some pages won't load. YouTube won't load right, I'll get stuck in the KF DDoS check, and when I load speedtest.net, download works but upload doesn't. Turn off the VPN, everything works. On Windows, don't have those problems. Switch back to my Xfinity connection on Linux and it all works fine. So it's something with ProtonVPN on Linux with the TMobile setup that breaks shit.

Also speaking of Android no phone seemed to have a decent file explorer, they're always piss poor at navigating or managing files. One literally had a shitty navigating system that I mostly had to relaunch the app to go back to the home directory (granted that was a no-name android cheap ass phone). The one I have right now on ASUS is better by a hair but really can still piss me off in the worse ways. The downloads folder seemed to have shat itself and caused some short-lived battery draining issue and it's causing my notifications sounds and alerts to not play. I had to move the files to the PC or other folders in the phone to deal with that. And sometimes, moving large files to a different folder just stalls at some point, the ETA for it keeps going up as if I have an ongoing download and my network gave up on me. Plus, when you get info the location isn't shown which makes the feature useless and beats its purpose.

10 times out of ten you will download a file explorer that's way less shit. Is it not possible to create an explorer that works like Windows in Android? I feel like the file explorer is just an afterthought and they always nig it out when implementing it. And don't get me started on iOS, that one is just laughable.
I use Explorer and don't have any problems with it. Navigating between built in storage and SDCard can be annoying but that's more to do with the way Android mounts them I think. Also supports network shares.

Yeah, I think it's largely idiots who want to side with the corporations that they know won't axe the DRM, so they can feel like the corporation has their back and it's an easy win in their stupid internet argument. They also don't know much about what their computer's actually doing, and just can't comprehend that things could run smoother and load faster if they simply ditched the DRM.

But, whatever, P4G is a small game, and there's a Fitgirl repack of it clocking in at 4.96gb. Go get that instead.

Fuck Windows and fuck Powershell as a dev environment. Seriously, tip from an amateur: don't waste your time on it. The Verb-Object format of Powershell is very very annoying, luckily I found Scoop to make it a bit more endurable.

I had to set up WSL to test build my little contribution for a project on Github and I kept on running to issues that'd only occur because of how Windows is designed at core (I did my editing and handled Git outside of WSL).

I'll just straight up install Linux next time if I pick up coding more serious, I've been kinda LARPing the terminal life on Windows for a while now.

Dude I read this and feel you 💯
I made the mistake of going to apple. Linux. Linux is where it’s at.

Never used macOS, but at least Linux and macOS intertwine at least somewhat. Windows just doesn't work like those two at all and that's what makes it all a little more painful. It's just not worth it. I have no love for Windows anymore.
