Piece of shit software - Crappy software/apps/programs that make you MATI

It was an interesting read until I got to this:

Anyway, if Mozilla wants an "open web" in the freetard kind of way, they should work towards killing capitalism, since that is the source of "closed practices" and most of the other problems of the world.

Marxism aside, I do give the author credit for this stance:

They have this thing called Mozilla Information Trust Initiative (archive) (see the manipulation there?) which will allegedly battle disinformation and fake news - but around here, we call that censorship. They intend to use their own inventions like Pocket, Focus, and Coral to push certain stories and block others

The stance that 'fighting misinformation = censorship" is getting rarer among leftists, it seems to be an older left-libertarian crowd (Stallman) and a few idealists who still believe it.

Any present-day laptop BIOS/firmware for making it a fucking pain to sort out booting from anything that isn't Windows. I just LOVE having my installation USB work flawlessly on one laptop and be completely unrecognised on another, whether it be due to some shit with Secure Boot, the fact that the USB uses MBR rather than GPT for the partition scheme and the former just isn't accepted, or some other bullshit brought along by third parties like Intel for whatever stupid reason.
Intel Rapid Storage Technology is the bane of my existence. My nice self contained rescue environment refuses to recognize drives on any 2020-2021 laptop I've tried it on and a couple of the modern bioses hide the option to turn it off behind a literal cheat code that you enter in on a specific screen in the bios to make options magically appear (ctrl-shift-alt-S on Asus machines, don't remember the Gigabyte combo).

Fuck iTunes. It doesn’t even work most of the time and back when I used much shittier computers than the ones I use now it used to lag the fuck out of everything.
My beef with iTunes is that with certain songs and albums, it's literally the ONLY avenue to get them. Neither Amazon, nor 7Digital, nor Juno Download will have certain rare songs/albums

And in my case I rely on 7Digital and Juno (also Discogs) more than ever since KHinsider nuked their entire Dancemania selection so i can't get their shit for free anymore.

Any of you niggers tried GIMP? It's a frothy convoluted mess.
Want to move the content you've selected? Either Edit>Float and then move or hold ALT+SHIFT before you move every fucking time.
Want to draw simple shapes? Use one of the selection tools, convert to path, stroke. Every fucking time. (If you want pixel variants you have to select, fill, line up smaller select just right, clear. Every fucking time.
Want to use a brush with even dimensions (2x2, 4x4, 6x6 etc.)? Can't do that. You can try via copying a region and selecting it in the brush menu but it's jittery as hell. This has been in the bug tracker since before I was born.
There's tons more little niggles here and there but those are the most obvious. The biggest shame is that GIMP could actually be a million times better with just a few tweaks.

E: and don't even get me started on fucking layer boundaries...

I think this is one of those autistic intransigence things that plagues FOSS projects, it's a matter of principle now that they never, ever include a shape tool. I don't know the backstory on why this is.

Out of curiosity, does PhotoGIMP happen to do away with any of the retarded design choices GIMP makes, considering it brands itself as the actual transitional alternative from Photoshop to GIMP?

Haven't heard about that project in years. I thought it died ages ago but it looks like someone took over the reigns.
No idea if it does but some of these horrible misfeatures are seriously baked in design wise so I wouldn't count on it.

E: maybe it adds in that stupid fucking marquee select offset they added in CS4 haha.

I think someone mentioned driver managers earlier but the Sennheiser Gaming Suite is the most egregious piece of bullshit I had to use with a headset, legit won't work without it, terrrible ui, and the newest version fucks with your microphone and won't start up you'll have constant signal loss meaning you have to unplug and replug the wireless dongle a shitton of times as well as voice distortion (more dongle fuckery)

I suspect its a case of rampant pajeetcode as after I rolled back a couple of versions everything worked fine and it more than TRIPLED the wireless range of the headset.

Not to mention customer support was so bad I thought it was another pajeet scam. Like the fuck I thought sennheiser was a top quality product but they use the same fucking outsourced bullshit

Like seriously what the fuck is this bullshit

Since I've been riding the GNU/Linux express I've been exploring all kinds of Desktop environments and god bless it the only ones that have pissed me off on the Raspberry Pi are GNOME 3x and 40.

For both it's a bad Android 2.0+ tablet interface with a believable desktop homescreen. That's kinda fucked up. You have this normal looking panel on vanilla Gnome but you can't by default change it up without additional software. The app launcher chugs even with 8GB RAM. More egregiously is this line of pixels on the left that aren't rendered properly and glitch out into an ugly mess when I use the launcher. Most extensions are shitty or just hammer home reinventing wheels, why do I need so many switches to generate a normal panel layout?

Fuck off. I'd rather openbox without any panels, trays, or clocks at all. Get off my shitpost machine.

On smartphones, it has to be Android 5.0 Lollipop. Once that rolled out, I felt nostalgic for Android 4.x already, you had an entire UX that was dark by default and felt like a top shelf movie theater. For all its quirks, HOLO was awesome and fit the name Android quite well only for it to be replaced by kindergarten art projects. I'm not the only one that hated Lollipop, it broke flagships left to right. Your phone could melt, literally, that isn't an exaggeration - Android 5.0 was EVIL.

Calibre ebook reader. Takes forever to boot up, has shit interface and is cluttered. If I wanted to waste time juggling using formats I'd go to adobe. Sumatra is not perfect but at least it knows what it is and it does it fast.
Interesting. I never would have considered using Calibre to actually read anything on PC, it's basically there to convert formats so you can send a well formatted document to Kindle. It's good to know that SumatraPDF can read non-PDF formats though, had thought of it as just a great PDF reader.

VLC
the function to resume watching from the place the vid was stopped last time is inconsistent, and the button is there for too short
the option to open new movies in new windows has been broken fore eons and fixed only very recently
the full screen GUI is stupid, why the fuck can't I have the scrubbing slider for the whole width of the screen?
options to boost sound over 100% (good for laptops with quiet speakers) are illogical and hidden
it's impossible to tell if the hardware acceleration is actually working or not

iOS
APPLE PLEASE ADD THE T9 CONTACT SEARCH TO THE CALLING APP MY FUCKING NOKIA DUMBPHONE HAD IT IN 2003 WHY CAN'T YOU ADD IT ALREADY AAARGHHHHH
stupid artificial limitations on file types that can be saved offline, no real file browser. Apple either fix it or stop pretending ipad can be used as a general computing machine, because it fucking cannot
also when you connect an BT mouse, the scroll wheel works in the opposite direction wtf

Because keyboard. Android doesn't seem to have it as well. Also the scrolling thing is also what's annoying with Mac, by default scrolling works in the opposite direction and funnily it's named as "Natural" scrolling if you look at the mouse settings. Nigger, please.

Also speaking of Android no phone seemed to have a decent file explorer, they're always piss poor at navigating or managing files. One literally had a shitty navigating system that I mostly had to relaunch the app to go back to the home directory (granted that was a no-name android cheap ass phone). The one I have right now on ASUS is better by a hair but really can still piss me off in the worse ways. The downloads folder seemed to have shat itself and caused some short-lived battery draining issue and it's causing my notifications sounds and alerts to not play. I had to move the files to the PC or other folders in the phone to deal with that. And sometimes, moving large files to a different folder just stalls at some point, the ETA for it keeps going up as if I have an ongoing download and my network gave up on me. Plus, when you get info the location isn't shown which makes the feature useless and beats its purpose.

10 times out of ten you will download a file explorer that's way less shit. Is it not possible to create an explorer that works like Windows in Android? I feel like the file explorer is just an afterthought and they always nig it out when implementing it. And don't get me started on iOS, that one is just laughable.

what? no it does- open the calling app in android, press "323", it will find contacs like "Dad" and others that fit the combination of letters under the 2 and 3 buttons. Do the same in iphone and it does nothing- you have to look up contacts directly in the contact part.

Shit I never paid attention to this. You're right, I mostly search by numbers on the calling app instead of the letters. I memorized most of them since I rarely call someone through the phone or network. This would be a lot handy, thanks.

GeForce Experience ... requires a login
This shit right here is bullshit. I swear a few years ago it was alright and didn't ask for anything but I downloaded it recently to update drivers on a laptop and it was asking me to register. Lol fuck off nigga, I'm not giving you my email address. This is supposed to be something that makes driver updates more convenient but I'll just go and do it manually and not use your gay ass software at all.
