Piece of shit software - Crappy software/apps/programs that make you MATI

People who willingly use Etcher and Raspberry Pi Imager and know they corrupt usb drives/sd cards are fucking retarded when Rufus exists.

Recently fucking discord

Every lazy two-bit dev and modder seems to just store their shit on a discord server which you have to join to download their shit. Discords terrible interface makes organising this shit a nightmare and their search is a trashfire.

The demise of the shit platform cannot come soon enough.
Real shit. I was playing Fallout 4 and wanted to redownload all of my old mods using Nexus. Well after all the mod creators threw a tantrum over Nexus making mod collections, so many mods are either missing or offplatform.

One particular mod called Worsin's Power Armor Garage, forces you to download it via Discord in the worst way possible. You can only join the Discord with a phone number-verified account and you have to manually ask for the links. That mod author can fuck themselves with a rusky saw. I grabbed the link and distribute it to anyone who might care.

I fucking hate the existence of discord. Don't misunderstand, I'm fully aware that nexus & such are also centralized services but discord alone can quite literally lock you out & demand you give them a phone number or you can't use the platform at any point is bullshit. Let us not forget the fact discord server owners can now charge people for server roles in their servers. Imagine some slimey fucking asshole moves all his shit to discord & charges you money for even the most basic role which gives the most basic text chat permissions for even just one channel. We know for a fact people will fucking whale out money for that kind of bullshit too.

Also in my defense I didn't know etcher corrupted usb drives when I first used it. I've since discovered ventoy & that is such a game changer.

I never had an issue with Raspberry Pi Imager (USBImager sufficed), but like hell am I using the online image burning; I'm downloading an image like you're supposed to via torrent and going from there. I know Etcher had a bit of drama about spooky background processes, so I steered clear from it after that. The gross majority of archive managers on Android are hot garbage and have given me false information about where the extracted contents actually went, as in it wouldn't solely target the directory I pointed them towards.

I've been using winrar since 1997 and that has never happened to me. Unless you hit the cancel button midway through, I suppose. It leaves what it was able to extract.
It happens on multiple devices, primarily phones and tablets.

7zip has become my go to if something has more than a few files, because I'm thinking it's maybe folders with hundred plus files that's causing winrar to act up.

I know it struggles when I just need to extract one object out of a few dozen, and it'll spend a few long seconds thinking what to do.

yeah Ive always used 7zip with no issues as I've had some issues extracting large files (yohoho) with other applications

Kaspersky and Windows have finally managed to piss me off after years of putting up with both of them.

I was recently victim of a rather oddly-timed malware attack on my windows machines and not only did Kaspersky do jackshit to stop it, it couldn't even detect the most basic fucking shit left over by the people responsible for it, it couldn't even detect a fucking EICAR file for crying out loud (For those that don't know what that is, it's literally a file to test whether or not an antivirus is working properly). But you know what it did detect? My mining tools and not only did it detect them but demanded that I delete each one of them and reset FOR EVERY MINER IN MY PC and it would not start a full scan until I did this for every file THAT I HAD PREVIOUSLY PLACED AN EXCEPTION FOR.

And on the other hand there is Windows. The Virus would rapidly multiply and spread whenever I turned the machine on and with Kaspersky sucking its' thumb it was obvious to me that I needed to solve this shit from a Linux thumb drive. However as some may know when you shut off Windows it doesn't really turn off but rather it just hibernates and turns the main disk into a read only medium. In the past all you had to do was just restart the pc and in doing so it would actually shut down the drive, these days though? I had to enter safe mode disable fast boot in the main settings, change a value in regedit, manually disable hibernation in cmd and use the shutdown comand from cmd instead of the start menu. Bear in mind while I was figuring this shit the virus was spreading like wildfire and rendering files useless by partially overwriting them (Which to be fair I had the foresight to backup on a weekly basis) so I was acting against the clock before the system was rendered useless every time I turned it on as it wouldn't allow me to do all these changes from the terminal contained in a windows 10 installation drive.

The end tally was 19 infected files on my main gaming PC, 8 infected files on my backup PC and 3 infected files on my home teather, none of which Kaspersky detected and all of which Windows got in my way to sanitize.

I'm done with Windows, I'm transitioning to Linux full stop as soon as I get a few parts to upgrade my PC.

I guess kaspersky meant to turn off protection for ukraine computers but our local farmer got hit in the crossfire.

That's actually my theory as to why I got hit and it's very weird to read what my schizo brain is thinking while everyone around me tells me I'm crazy.
For the record the attack happened on the 23rd.
All I wanted was to mine some shitcoins to buy into the dip man (:_(

If I recall correctly, rebooting Windows as opposed to shutting it down doesn't put your NTFS drives into read-only mode. Something to do with optimizing boot times. When you're not running a dual boot setup, you can just go into the BIOS menu straight off a reboot and change the boot order to your USB stick there. On the antivirus front, Microsoft Defender is better than pretty much anything else these days.

Any microsoft office product after 2003. Jesus Christ what the fuck happened? Gone are the days where everything simply just fucking worked and the layout was fine but now whenever I boot up some new version of it (on a work computer) I'm treated to this carcrash of a UI with about half the screen taken up by bloat.

I hate having to admit that I use LibreOffice nowadays because it's simple and allows me to just look directly at whatever I'm doing without half the screen being niggered up.

You're telling me you don't like having your screen look like tranny's first art piece? What are you gay?

The SpectrWM tiling window manager has abhorrently inconsistent manpages and generally unhelpful third party documentation... probably due to the fact the FUCKING MANPAGES don't match up to more than 30% of the actual programs use? What if I don't want to autostart programs just to have them on the right workspace?

If you're not hard up for a tiling window manager specifically might I suggest giving IceWM a shot. It's a stacking window manager & from my time using it it's so god damn stable, I've never once had a single problem with it. I still use it even on a system with 128gb of ram & shit. Man page documentation is also super good. Long but it seems to have all the options listed in it. If I couldn't find something in the man page it's cause my stupid ass didn't know what I was looking for but it was there whenever I figured out what I was trying to find.

Oh, IceWM is sick, and it isn't even hard to make it into a full-fledged DE that makes LXDE blush. I currently use i3 and part of that is because I never gave it a proper chance and skipped straight to DWM -- which just updated to 6.3, so I had to put that on the backburner due to patch constraints. The most problematic tilers are BSPWM and SpectrWM, both of which either lack official documentation or are not at all consistent with their manpages. I dig the automatic splitting of tiling window managers, but documentation is everything. That being said, DWM has a lot of external, third-party documentation, but SpectrWM has both outdated settings or lacks settings altogether with no clear solutions.

Discord, of course. I lost an account in 3 servers that were private for "harassment" and all of my contacts. Despite using VPNs and burner emails it refuses to let me make new accounts and forces me to use a phone number I do not have nor am willing to provide. I've lost contact with all of the people I associate with because of some tranny janny scum faggot in California. I cant afford to purchase a burner phone and I would rather not be deprived of all socialization outside of work and family. These people are destroying the Internet even on the smallest most isolated scale.

For some reason the camera app on my Android phone kept crashing when I tried to use it. I updated the photos app, and the camera app stopped crashing. Fucking Google is acting weird.

I backed up my discord contacts list after my 1st ban, it's helped me out a few times. I should just jump ship already.

I know your pain brother. I would prefer to host my own mumble server or something like rocket chat for the photo & video sharing but that cost money I don't got.
Discord needs to die & so does shit like guilded cause it's the same.
