Piece of shit software - Crappy software/apps/programs that make you MATI

I backed up my discord contacts list after my 1st ban, it's helped me out a few times. I should just jump ship already.
It doesn't help when you get what appears to be an MAC ban, I lost the last one just a few days ago and was unable to make my normal secondary or tertiary. Don't even post in large or especially edgy servers and such.

Uh you can just change your MAC address.

If you're talking about an actual HWID ban tied to your motherboard then you'll have to run Discord in a VM while spoofing everything. You can find guides for this online. Not sure why you'd go through all that trouble for fucking Discord though.

Going back to discord, I hope you guys don't use the same username here as you do there. I received a mail a couple of days ago about a privacy policy update and reviewing the changes in their blog hate-speech, spreading "fake news" about the coof or having bad off-site behavior are now banable offences.
Here is their summary if anyone is interested:

So, you might ask, what’s actually changing? We wanted to call out some key updates here:

  • More clarity and less legalese: You’ll notice that we rewrote our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy so that mere mortals can understand them clearly.
  • How we use your information: We’ve provided more detail what information we collect, how we use and share it, and how you can control your privacy on Discord.
  • Public and private spaces: We want everyone to understand the difference between posting in public servers, like those you can find in Server Discovery, and private servers and conversations, and make sure you choose the appropriate space, features, and settings for you and your content.
  • New and updated Community Guidelines: To help make Discord a safer place for everyone, we are prohibiting harmful misinformation and will now consider off-platform behavior in some cases. We’ve also updated the protected attributes in our hate speech policy to include caste, gender identity, age, serious illness, and more.

These changes go into effect on March 28, 2022 — we’re telling you about them now so you can understand what’s changing before then. To agree to the changes, all you have to do is keep using Discord. If you don’t agree, you should stop using Discord (though we’d be very sad to see you go).

AH HA HA HA HA HA!!! Discord as a company can eat shit. I fucking hope they all end up homeless.

Lol this made me remember I briefly had that Compiz cube thing over a decade ago. From what I remember there wasn't any issues with it but the novelty wore off quickly.
Maybe it's some kind of sperg rite of passage.

Here's my compiz cube from mid 2009. iirc the fish looked fine normally, it was just a glitch when taking the screenshot.

Banning for offsite shit is funny because that means you can just impersonate people you don't like in order to get them banned. That's why most sites don't do it.

Deviantart is having a brain fart recently.

I don't think Discord can even read your MAC address if you use it from a browser, especially if you make sure it's been given enough privacy addons to prevent fingerprinting.

To clarify it does not seem to be a MAC ban but it's connected to my device in the sense it recognizes who I am and asks for a phone number. At this point I'd like to find a way around it out of spite without buying a burner.

How to get someone you dislike banned from Final Fantasy XIV:
Step 1: make sock twitch account

Step 2: have victim willing to provide you with a screen capture of their gameplay

Step 3: overlay your stream chat and shit over the recorded video

Step 4: say gamer words during video

Step 5:

Step 6: report own video to big brother Square Enix

Step 7: profit

Alternatively, record a video of you stream sniping Asmongold and edit the video with another person's name on top of yours.

Get someone banned by asking them to cast Holy in town (Holy is a very flashy spell used by an ingame healing class which can be cast anywhere).

I'd stop using SurfShark (or don't get) as it seems they have gone woke. If you have the chrome or firefox extension you'll get a fake news warning now on certain websites.

Out of curiosity I went to a couple of sites that I'd think would be banned. Here is a list of some that I visited with it on:
foxnews.com
infowars.com
4chan.org
cnn.com
drudge.com
bitchute.com

I have not gotten it from these however:
theguardian.com
nyt.com
vice.com/en/news
vox.com
msnbc.com
facebook.com
twitter.com
youtube.com
gab.com

I also came across this reddit post where they said that they turned off all Russian Servers (and maybe access for Russian users) as well as to provide free VPN subs to those in need in Ukraine (I don't know how they plan on doing this).

99% of the vpns currently in the market should be avoided, all of them hold and retain private user info that they give to the feds when asked for it.

The only VPN service that I know that doesn't hold user data (Unless your public IP is static instead of dynamic and you aren't using TOR or something) is Mullvad, and honestly I just expect them to get shut down by the feds eventually.

I'm pretty sure if the alphabet corps investigate you, all VPNs will have to eventually give in due to pressure. The only exception I can see is a VPN based in Russia with no proxies anywhere near the US.

Mullvad is based in Sweden, a European country, so if the FBI or any authorities in the European region want to they can probably pressure them into giving away information.

Remember what happened with Protonmail? I'll keep using Gmail because even the "private" alternatives are a double-edged sword and I recommend anyone to use any VPN overlayed with TOR or something like that.

I do remember the french guy that proton sent to jail for truancy, mullvad though is rather different. It doesn't require a mail to sign up and you can pay them in cash or crypto (You have to mine your own coins and trade them for btc or bch at a crypto-only exchange though, otherwise it can also be tracked).

The only info that they can keep on you that I'm aware of is information that you provide them from your browser and PC client, which the feds have to specify on rather than just using your name (basically they need to ask for your IP in their gay subpoena rather than your name as mullvad doesn't know your name, mail account, phone number or anything else really). If you have good anti-fingerprinting practices Mullvad doesn't even have that, which is why I believe it will be shut down eventually.

The idea of a MAC ban is as outdated today as a dial-up Internet connection. Discord is a web app, which means to get it to work you need to let it execute JS. That opens up many opportunities to get a unique fingerprint.

Consider checking yours with a tool from the EFF: https://coveryourtracks.eff.org/ Now create a separate browser profile and go full privacy autist on that (e.g. Firefox with arkenfox user.js). Compare the two fingerprints and then check if Discord still recognizes you. If this sounds like too much, try a simple canvas fingerprint blocker and user agent randomizer.

What a retarded stance. Let's cut off the people trying to avoid being monitored by an oppressive state! That'll show em!

You can pay them by anonymously sending cash in an envelope with a note that has the account number you got from pressing "generate account number" on their site. And while a lot of laws in Sweden are absolute bullshit most people don't realize how absolutely autistic the enforcement can be and for a VPN provider that is good news.

But if there is a VPN service that is adamant about anonymity to the point of being an unhealthy obsession then the glowies will have their eyes on it and possibly, just as a precaution, you if you decide to join it.

Yeah, now that you mention it maybe I souldn't go around endorsing mullvad around here, but I still think it's a good thing that it exists? Seriously the rest of the major VPNs are always up to weird shenanigans:
  • Nord got hacked and there's still shit regarding that hack floating around everywhere.
  • Surf is testing the waters to start filtering traffic.
  • ExpressVPN has been caught and charged with spying on behalf of the United Arab Emirates (No, really).
  • Proton likes to jail teens for not showing up to school.
  • Private Internet Access is owned by Kape and that's a whole different can of worms, literal worms, they develop malware after all.
Mullvad hasn't had anything of the sort happening and I guess a part of me just misses paying for services with cash-by-mail; that's the way I used to get my MMO subscriptions as a kid and my steam games as a teen that just went away one day.

No, I quite like Mullvad and believe in what they are doing. Our laws are retarded but with that retardation comes absolute autism, so I think they're in a good spot. I wasn't clear with what I meant but I was referring to hosting of the same caliber, if you want to ghost what you're hosting you might end up on a list. I think VPNs could be going in a similar direction. If you are signing up for a large vpn centered around jumping Netflix regions you are one of many. If you go ghost by being part of a service that offers that then intelligence agencies might put you on a list IF THEY CAN. That's my hypothetical, Mullvad seems absolutely fine because they're not an ISP and there is an ISP that have spent decades spending their own money fighting tooth and nails in courts to limit governmental overreach.
