But this isn't a Lbry issue it's a Ralph is a retard issue. He's using OBS and just having OBS save a copy which he then uploads straight to killstream.tv. The default OBS settings are very generous. It uses VBR (Variable Bit Rate) but still averages pretty high rates. For example, his audio bit rate averages in the 200kbps range, which is fucking ridiculous for just stereo (2 channel) audio. I use 224 for 5.1 channels when I transcode movies.

I'm guessing that OBS's market being twitch the defaults would at least at one time if not the present, be good for video games. His livestreams are mostly a very small window of his lack of motion and a larger window that often has still motion of articles or twitter that also doesn't need large amount of bitrate. The stream could probably be tuned with the right settings to 85-300KB/s instead of the ~2000K video and look perceptionally the same to 99.9% of the viewers, maybe higher considering the drug use and booze they consume in order to qualify as a regular watcher(no offense person who pays for your Ralph Retort).

Do you have the command line to the encoder, I'd like a good method of shrinking his streams as I use ffmpeg directly for some minor things, such as mpegts to mkv to knock off a few percent of filesize, or unreversing MATI's special vision of copyrighted clips, but reencoding was something I never was into. Even better if you have some hevc_nvenc ones that would work and would come out decent.

What is the difference for 720 and 1080 for Ralph? Would his viewers be able to tell? When he is in his garage he does not need the "highest quality". Plus I heard people on phones can't even watch 1080 because of data.
