It's a token saying you own something, like a shitty drawing, but does not represent the object itself. Basically a blockchain certificate of ownership.
I guess the idea is that buying the NFT for a shitty drawing gives you the rights to said drawing, such as owning the copyright. Meaningless until it's upheld in court as valid proof of ownership. And people are spending a ton of money on this bullshit.

Correct me if I am wrong, but owning the NFT of a picture or some art work, doesn't even give you the right to charge royalties for the usage of said image, as the copyright remains with the artist who likely sold the NFT.

I used to like bullshitting with Rand on twitter. He was always good banter and never took shit too seriously. As someone who tried living in Mexico, it is not easy to get residency in Mexico. He will also get extradited so fucking quickly for the US courts. Also, he can't fly can he? I thought he was a felon and wasn't able to leave the country. How the fuck is he going to go anywhere?
