That was 100% meth you can tell by how long the lighter was going for a small hit. I worked for a functional meth head and it explains a lot about Ralphs actions. The guy i worked for didn't rage as hard as Ralph but he was just as paranoid and he would often stay up 2-3 days and if he did he would start to get even more delusional. The funny parts is if he needed to sleep he would drink and take some Xanax. He also made enough money selling firewood and parting out cars that his daughter was in private school and rode horses so is also more successful than Ralph lmao

Addicted, yeah I would be. Casual use is one thing, an Rx for adderall or Xanax, sure. Smoking weed, doing some coke on the weekend, definitely. Once you get into daily meth usage, the addicted ones, you have very few that don’t crash and burn within a few years.

Roofers and long haul truckers seem to be the most common jobs long term meth abusers can manage to hold. Meth users can’t function over time in jobs that require critical thinking or social interaction. A few weeks to get through some crazy project with long hours is doable, but not daily meth abuse over years. It does make your brain start short circuiting, not to mention the lovely ppl you end up interacting with to get meth end up causing trouble as well.

I’ve known plenty of drug users over the years - both causal and addicts. I’ve never known people who used meth that didn’t end up fucking up their entire lives after a few years at most.

Even Aaron Sorkin, who KotP referenced above, completely crashed and burned smoking crack till he ended up in jail and rehab. (The West Wing was created several years after his rehab stint.)

I agree with everyone else about drug use but this is the biggest reason i think its plausible ralph does meth. His job is literally rambling to a camera if he had this energy doing coke or even crack he would have to maintain every 30mins to an hour meth not so much. Meth however he could take a hit or two every couple of hours and drink and take some Xanax at night and go to sleep wake up and start over again. Its a lot cheaper than doing coke or crack too but he will probably not live until 50 years old

It's amazing at the number of crimes this fat bastard admits to on a regular basis. The cocaine abuse is going to go over insanely well in family court. You also have two distinct types of alcoholics: functional and non-functional. Functional when you can drink for years and years and still hold a job/career, maintain a household and a social life, hobbies, etc. It’s also the more insidious of the two, because it leads to a false sense of normalcy that a real substance abuse problem “doesn’t exist.” Usually these types get in trouble from morning-after DUIs and some financial burden. Ralph isn’t one of these, because nothing has forced him to be. He doesn’t have a real job, doesn’t have any sense of personal or familial responsibility (notice it’s Pantsu whose lumped with taking care of Reroll). He swung on a cop because he was aroused suddenly from a black-out drunken stupor. I’m surprised he hasn’t been pulled over for his reckless driving, because he would certainly get breathalyzed the moment a cop caught a wiff of his breath. He’s just lucky that he lives in a hive of drunken red-necks that law enforcement doesn’t want to deal with.
