The Jones trial definitely has free speech implications, and it probably is chilling protected speech. Political prosecutions are causing people to lose faith in the judicial system. What Ralph does can absolutely be constituted as slander and defamation. Not only that, but potential black-mail and/or life ruination. I don't think he really comprehends that the only thing holding back a conga-line of people from beating his ass within an inch of his life IS the law. There was a conversation in chat last night about Ralph's financial situation. I wanted to find a particular clip from the first Portugal trip (right after he got beaten up) to show that he's perpetually borderline broke, but I couldn't find it. It bugged me enough to go looking for it in the Killstream archives.

It was from this stream, btw. After getting beaten up, Ralph was practically begging for donations - he even offered to show his gunt for $200. I remember Kiwis at the time saying that he had traveler's health insurance which would cover the hospital bill, so Ralph's begging was probably because he hadn't been able to stream for a week or two. This was enough to put him in serious financial straits.

The fucking pig is in court for not having enough auto insurance, so I highly doubt he'd by something as trivial as traveler's insurance.

Yeah sorry, but I doubt that. Ralph has a PhD in Literary Journalism from the Univeristy of Arkansas, West Memphis. He has been featured in such prominent publications as: The Ralph Retort, Killstream.live, and Killstream.tv. He's the most prolific gonzo journalist since Hunter S. Thompson himself.
