The power there goes off pretty easily (I think he's lost some shows because of it last year), and I guarantee a storm is either going to knock down or flood lines and put him off the grid for days. This is very much an issue. Mexico's power grid is held together with popsicle sticks and glue. If Merida gets hit hard (which is very likely), I can see him without power for 72+ hours. The CFE (Federal Electricity Commission) prioritizes Hospitals, Government Buildings and a few other places. While residential areas, and if the rumors are true, poorer residential areas like Los Héroes are given less priority.

Now about how his shack will handle the storm, I doubt it'll come crumbling down. What will be a major bitch is leakage, the humidity, and flooding. Leaks from the roof, leaks from the walls. The humidity will be insane, his walls will look like him sweating. If he doesn't ventilate his house well enough, mold might start forming. And as for the flooding, I don't know how much it'll flood by his area, but it may be an issue.
