Wasn't Ralph saying he was going to lose weight? Is drinking beer instead of swig of Maker's Mark and mouthful of Coke part of his diet plan?
Bud Lite: 4% - 9 calories per 1 fl oz
Pabst Blue Ribbon: 4.8% - 12 calories per 1 fl oz
Coca Cola - 12 calories per 1 fl oz
Maker's Mark: 45% - 77 calories per 1 fl oz
If he drinks 18 cans of Bud Lite per night (each can is 12 fl oz) it would be 1,944 calories
18 cans of Pabst is 2,592 calories (assuming 18 cans, each 12 fl oz)
2 bottles of Coca Cola, 17 fl oz would be 408 calories
1 bottle of Maker's Mark, 59 fl oz, is 4,543 calories
On paper, it looks like it is a better way to keep the weight down. Then why is he swelling up larger at a quicker rate than before? Also, assuming he is only drinking beer, not drinking Maker's before or after stream. Don't know what beer he was drinking, but even more calorie intensive beers are about the same (Sam Adams is 180 calories per 12 fl oz, Guiness is 176 per 12 fl oz - apparently they are the most calorie intensive beers - for Sam Adams, that works out at 3,240 calories for 18 cans 12 fl oz). Also, he might not be drinking 18 cans - that's a lot harder than drinking a bottle of Maker's Mark, just the sheer volume of liquid, so potentially even less calories through beer.
Never knew how many calories were in a night of drinking, jeez.
Your estimates are a bit off because you're calculating the Maker's Mark calories as though he is drinking a handle (1.75L) as opposed to a fifth (750ml). A handle is the equivalent of ~40 drinks while a fifth is equivalent to ~17. Ralph is a drunken slob to be sure, but if he was putting down 60oz of whiskey a day he would be completely unable to function.
Calorie wise that would also put a fifth at 1940 cal, so there's no real change with switching between whiskey and canned piss for roughly the same number of drinks. If he's drinking stronger beer with more calories that probably just offsets the soda calories he consumes when he's drinking Maker's.
